Dr. Evans pretends cataract surgery is a safe and simple procedure until you have a side effect or two or three like I have. I have been suffering for one year and have been to numerous doctors and spent thousands of dollars trying to feel better. He's fine until you have a problem and then you're on your own. It is unconscionable that I was not informed of any serious issues from cataract surgery. If I knew what I know now, I would have gone to a Doctor who does not do cataract surgery in an assembly line. People should be treated as individuals and that is not the case with this practice. I'm sorry I ever had this done since my life has been turned into a living hell

I went to Dr. Evans for over 15 year and had a cataract surgery five years ago. I haven't been able to write because it was so traumatic. After the surgery my eye was so blurry I couldn't see . I called the next day and was told it was normal right after surgery. It continued for a couple of weeks after calling almost everyday. He was too busy to talk to me. I finally went to another eye doctor who didn't think he could save my eye. Thank God he did. I was then diagnosed with a genetic eye condition, Fuchs Syndrome, which I was told is easily diagnosed even by an optometrist which was never diagnosed by him or his ophthalmologist I saw yearly. I went to Mass Eye and Ear and I was told I may need a double cornea transplant which I haven't had yet but now I need to use multiple drops a day. It was a terrible experience which caused me a lot of anxiety and still can't see well. My next appointment is with a refractive surgeon who may try to fix the cataract and unfortunately insurance will not cover mistakes by eye surgeons. It has cost me a lot of time and money.

If you want only to have your cataracts done and nothing more, this is the place for you. If you want an ophthalmologist who will spend more than five minutes with you and actually listen to your questions snd concerns and address them thoroughly, go somewhere else. If you want to see the same doctor each appointment, go somewhere else. If after visiting the doctor more than 5 times in a year you expect him to remember your name during your visit while he's looking at your chart, go somewhere else. My cataract surgery went well, but I had another issue develop which I still don't fully understand because the doctor didn't seem to hear or have time to answer my questions. In addition to that problem, on my first visit, I mentioned that I was concerned that my eyes are so dry I need to use drops to open them in the morning.. I received no response to that until I saw Dr Farber a year later who was alarmed at how dry my eyes are. She gave me a prescription. Finally. When i had questions after a visit, I asked if there was a patient portal, the office person who answered the phone said, "Yes, but no one ever looks at it." This is a cataract mill. They do a great job with them. I give than five stars for that. Everything else...1-2 stars.
