Scheduling an eye exam is simple and quick. However, when it comes to someone answering their phones, I give a 1-star. Pearle Vision's website is incredibly vague when it comes to the cost of their eye exams. Compared to other places, this establishment posts a 50-200$ range for their examinations. While that is somewhat helpful, it does not count as an EXACT amount that I would be prepared to pay without insurance.
I called them on 12/01/2025 at 2:06 PM to ask about their OOP costs without insurance. No call back. So, I did call again, Friday, 12/05/2025 at 8:59 PM to cancel my appointment due to lack of information and their inability to provide not even an email with their price for an OOP exam.
I've worked at places with better communication than this place is willing to NOT offer. So, I will not be scheduling an appointment with this establishment again.
Despite my frustrations, I do hope you all have a Happy Holiday and that they do not continue to rely on Artificial Intelligence as their scheduling system.
Beware they only allow access to your eye exam prescription for 1 year vs 2 years at most other optometrists. Attached is from their website recommending adult exams every 2 years. They are willing to honor your prescription if you buy from them but will not provide you with a copy. I went in today for repair on the glasses I purchased and to potentially get a copy of my prescription, was treated rudely by staff as if they don't care about customers just money. Tried to sell me new frames instead of even attempting to repair. I took elsewhere and they were repaired no problem. I will no longer use or recommend Pearle Vision.
I have been going to Dr. Matson for 4 years with no issue but in the last year, I have had issue after issue. It took 5+ months to get the lenses on my last pair of glasses right and now they gave me the most INCORRECT prescription. The prescription he wrote was -1.00 and -.75 (see attached). After seeing a different optometrist today, the correct prescription is -.25 and +.25. (See attached) Please be extremely cautious if you choose to go here. I thought I had serious eye damage that needed immediate attention because of the prescription difference! No one noticed how extremely different the prescription was from last year to this year. Obviously you can see the one dated from today and how different it is. All proof is attached in photos. I will note that they did refund my money for the incorrect glasses and my eye exam.
Made an appointment for a simple exam, they started blowing my phone up immediately and I can't answer because I can't hear well and I wouldn't be able to communicate that way so I waited on an email or something. Finally got a text and they were immediately aggressive talking about an insurance I don't even have. I told them I didn't list any insurance and I don't have VSP or whatever. It didn't even ask me for insurance. I have Medicaid not VSP. They kept calling!! I asked them to stop because I was freaking deaf and they cancelled the appointment all together. I am so confused. Why was that so unprofessional? I ended up going to MyEyeDr instead. I still don't understand what happened but I just blocked the number since the calls were too much.
I had my eye exam today. This was my first exam in years deciding it was time to make the jump from readers to real glasses. I have to say the entire staff actually made it a wonderful experience!!
They were so knowledgeable and friendly. They really took their time with me and cared about not just what was best for my vision but also how my new glasses would look and best of all how I felt in them!!
I seriously can't recommend them enough and can't wait till my new glasses come in!!
I went in just for an eye exam (glasses and contact lenses). Their location was very convenient to where I work. I feel that Dr. Matson did a good job with the eye exam, although he doesn't have the best bedside manner...easy enough for me to overlook. After meeting with the doctor for about 30 minutes, he brought me to the front of the store. The front office staff were definitely friendly, until after I paid for the exam. I explained to the office manager that I did not want to purchase from Pearle right now, as last year's glasses were still good, and I had several pair of contact lenses from last year, so wasn't in a hurry to purchase more. When I asked for copies of prescriptions for both exams, I was told by the office manager that they don't give copies of the contact lens prescription until the sample had been tried and worn for a week. This would ensure that the new prescription worked well for me. However, she still wanted me to order and pay for the new prescription at that time, without trying the sample lens. This didn't make sense to me, so I asked again for copies of both prescriptions, telling her I didn't need to buy anything now. She said she would give me the glasses prescription, but not the contact lens prescription. I offered to give back the one trial contact lens that the doctor gave me. After that, she rolled her eyes, walked to the back office, and returned with copies of both prescriptions. Not the customer service I expected after reading such great reviews. But that could be because I didn't spend hundreds of dollars there. I've never had that problem with other optical offices. Needless to say, I won't be back there.
Called to get some basic information about pricing and insurance coverage and got no help other than a lady doing her best to end the phone call. She repeatedly kept telling me how the glasses purchase process goes and that was no help. She kept implying that I needed to come in. I called American best, HD eye care, and lens crafters they all had no problem answering my questions in less than 5 minutes phone calls. She was nice and friendly on the phone but was absolutely no help and didn't even try to help.
Everyone in this office rocks! All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. Dr. Matson is great! He definitely cares about all of his patients. My appointment was quick but not at all rushed, and I got help picking out new frames by Tracy! Everyone is also following the Covid regulations and regularly sanitizing surfaces.
