We recently moved to MN & established care at Blustin. Both my husband & I have received great care from the provider & the clinic staff, the exams were thorough (more specific exam questions than we ever received out of state). The provider is straight to the point, which we like! Bailey (clinic staff) was wonderful, she completed tasks ahead of time, anticipating what the provider would need which shortened the visit. She also had knowledge (from memory) of our vision plan & did a double check of our benefits to confirm coverage before locking in our purchases & discussed different plans/coverages from a provider perspective, which we really appreciated!
I've received nothing but the very best in service, quality eye exams & quality eye wear! And even thou my vision insurance is out of network i will continue to go to Blustin's!!!
Because i had tried other optical places that were so awful i couldnt even see out of the glasses those unethical places prescribed.
I highly reccomend Blustin Optical!
Dr Van Loon & his staff are the very best!!!
I have been going to Blustin Optical for over 20 years. I wouldn't trust my eyes to anyone else. Dr. Van Loon and his staff are amazing. They care about you and the health of your eyes, and they're committed to helping you see clearly. Can't get any better than that, and Dr. Van Loon is crackerjack.
I would not recommend this eye clinic. I have been a patient, off and on, for a number of years. I went in for a yearly eye exam that is, typically, fully paid for by my insurance. Dr. Van Loon performed an additional exam that requires approval from my primary care doctor, but of course I was not made aware of that at the time. As a result, my insurance carrier would not approve the charges for either exam. It should have been a relatively easy fix of contacting my primary care clinic, but even after multiple calls and letters to Blustin Optical, this is still not resolved. They have not once reached out to me to rectify the issue, not even to return my calls...extremely poor customer service and lack of professionalism.
Would not go back, mediocre customer service, slightly deceiving/up selling practices, inflexible re-check policy, limited selection, high prices. Similar to a couple other reviews.... At first I was charged more than standard eye exam, they explained it was because we talked about contacts. I had no intention of wearing contacts, and even mentioned it at time of booking the appt because I knew my insurance restrictions well. They did finally correct price but were clearly annoyed/abrupt about it. Just feels like a way they can nab an extra $60-$70. I found it an awkward/uncomfortable experience. I was given three different RX's- one with bifocal included, one just bifocal for straight computer use/reading (up close) and one that was a far weaker RX (near and far) to use as a test to see how that worked. I can understand the logic, but the promise was if those didn't work they'd recheck. Nope. Right after the exam at Blustin, I took my RX to Vision Works. Blustin has very few frames. Prices are not marked on frames and that is awkward. Most are very expensive. Bottom line- none of the 3 RX's I got worked for me. I tried all 3 through Vision Works (generous re-making policy-go there!!) It did take 4+ months to try all 3 pairs of glasses. It was suggested to me I should give it 3-4 weeks to try each pair and let your eyes get adjusted before giving up. Fair. But by the time I cycled through each pair, contacted Blustin and explained what happened, they were unwilling to do a recheck without charging for a full exam. Super bummed I have to get another eye exam at my expense and start over.
Been our family optometrist since I was a kid. I hadn't been there in a few years, but when I went in the doctor knew who I was and asked how my mom was doing. They've always given a good experience.
Very friendly staff and Dr. Van Loon was quick to help me with my eye injury. Would return as needed for exams! Thanks team.
Great service. Staff is very friendly and professional, and manage appointments well. Rarely any waiting time. Professional and experienced doctor.
