Dr. Les is highly trained and uses the utmost care and precision taking time to hear patient concerns to fine tune the glasses. After years of distorted vision, anxiety, and headaches - I finally feel like a weight has been lifted. I am excelling at full-time work, driving, and full-time school; a feat that would have been impossible even 6 months ago. Had I known about binocular vision dysfunction and Dr. Les sooner, I would have saved thousands on ineffective consults and treatments of symptoms rather than root cause. Their website is also super helpful with additional information and questionnaires to assist in figuring out if you may struggle with binocular vision dysfunction or other eye conditions that benefit from prisms so you can assess whether scheduling an appt would be useful for you.
I have a hustory of Lyme Disease, concussion, and ADHD. After learning about binocular vision dysfunction on the Lyme Foundation Website, and watching Debbie Feinberg's Ted Talk (visiom specialists of Michigan), I found Dr. Les at Learn to See in Minneapolis. This made accessing quality care possible for me (about a 2 hr drive). At just about 10 years of holding a driver's license, I couldn't make out road signs and relied on GPS. My other optometrist and neuro-opthamologist told me my glasses preciscription was fine and accurate - but I still struggled. For almost 7 years I took SSRIs for anxiety but they didn't provide any relief. I couldn't tolerate grocery stores, and stimuli was so overwhelming. I enjoy reading and research, but often couldn't read for very long without feeling ill or triggering migraines. I don't feel that way anymore - I feel like a functional human and I am so grateful.
Dr Les is great! Kind, patient, helpful -- worked with my daughter for a few years to help her with all kinds of vision issues. I didn't even know that developmental optometrists existed, and once she was diagnosed with the issues, and got both glasses AND proper exercises, it made all the difference in her life and at school. I highly recommend Dr Les. Not only was his work effective, both my daughter and I looked forward to the therapy sessions. He was funny, fun, and believed in my daughter's success. A rare find.
Dr. Les has been a godsend in our life. Ever since I was little I've had extreme, debilitating symptoms that no one could ever figure out. As an adult, he was able to diagnose me with BVD, and even connect it to my other issues such as hEDS, POTS/MCAS, and general sensitivity . There's no doctor , medical or holistic , that has been able to explain and connect things for me and he does it with such kindness and understanding. While my situation is complicated, he has also been amazing for my husband , who is a bit more straightforward in the vision arena. We are so lucky to have him in our area.
Dr. Les helped solve my son's vision problem! The regular eye doctor did not even identify the issue - which caused coordination issues and interfered with his reading (even after he had resolved his word reading issues with years of one-on-one structured literacy intervention).
I wish I would've have found him sooner! After getting glasses that met his needs his coordination changed and reading no longer caused headaches and strain.
Learn To See Vision Clinic has changed my life after a mTBI. Through careful review of my symptoms and extensive testing of my vision, I was prescribed lenses that let me regain my daily life.
Would 100% recommend.
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Les at LearnToSee. I am retired and have had cataract surgery. I have suffered from a binocular vision disorder since a 2019 diagnosis at the Mayo. My case is complicated by epiretinal membranes and strabismus. I received my first prism glasses from an orthoptist at HealthPartners post surgery that worked OK but not great. I still had nausea and eye strain. Dr. Les took the time to really dial in my Rx so my vision is now great in the sense that it is truely comfortable to read drive and play with my grandchildren. Thanks Dr. Les.
I've had problems with my vision, brain fog, cluster headaches, etc. for 5+ years. I googled 'nauseous eyes' hoping to find relief, and I came across the test on Learn to See Vision Clinic's website.
I related to almost every symptom listed and for the first time in years I had hope that something could change. It was clear he understood the symptoms and how they may stem from vision issues. I submitted the test and was contacted by Dr. Les to discuss my answers and set up an appointment.
As soon as I arrived to the clinic I instantly at ease. I had my evaluation, including a prism test, and was given my future prescription to wear around his office. Suddenly the lights were easier to handle and I was even walking better.
I picked up my glasses 1-week later and had my 1st 'wow' moment on day 2. I've tilted my head to the left for years making it difficult to know where center is, only to find out it was due to my vision. However, it was already being corrected right then and there! I realized my head was center and it was surreal, I finally had some relief. Since then my headaches have dramatically lessened and I can be in bright/fluorescent lights without pain.
I was (and remain) shocked by how these glasses have already changed my life and I'm only a couple of weeks into wearing them. I will be a lifelong Learn to See Vision Clinic patient.
Dr. Les is an exceptional developmental Optometrist. Through a vision evaluation when my child was 7 years old, Dr. Les determined he had retained primitive reflexes and needed vision therapy. My son received vision therapy from Dr. Les for 10 months. This improved my son's overall visual system. It allowed him to learn to read, do better in school and be more settled in his body. The evaluation also led Dr. Les to recommend an occupational therapist to be address my son's retained reflexes (something I'd never heard of before).
Vision therapy is hard work for a child and the parent who leads home exercises. Dr. Les' level of knowledge, skills, patience, sense of humor, and cooperation with both child and parents, made it endurable and fun. The end result was worth every second. My son continues to see Dr. Les for yearly vision checkups, because Dr. Les knows his history, he still makes helpful recommendations for my son's vision. I highly recommend Dr. Les without hesitation.
