After going to several different eye doctors, closer to my home, and more convenient, they cannot seem to get it right. I always end up going back to Dr. Josh. He understands, listens, and gets it right every time! I learned my lesson....going back to Dr. Josh from now on. He truly cares about his patients! In addition, the staff is phenomenal, the best! Thank you!

Unfortunately the exam I had led to a prescription where I could not see at all. I had to pay out of pocket for an entirely new exam at a new clinic. Three months later I received a bill from River Lake for almost $500 more than I have ever been charged by an Optometrists. When I shared my experience and concerns with the clinic, clearly stating how upsetting this was and how as a new customer I felt wronged and confused, and asked if they could do anything to assist me with the bill. The admin blamed me and told me I should have called them sooner if I had issues with the exam, that they had to do a whole workup because I was a new patient and they didn't have records (I have records if they would have requested them), and that no they would not give any sort of discount even after I offered to show the receipt of the additional exam I had to go an pay for at the other office. If you are a new patient, sadly, I am writing this for you. This clinic does not care if you have a good experience or if you feel taken care of (which is the hope you have for any of your Doctors), and they have no interest in making wrongs right. If they did, they would have found a way to work with me today, heard my concerns and my experience and chosen to give a little grace (I asked for a discount). I would not recommend them based on how I was treated today on the phone, based on the exam which led to glasses out of which I could not see, and based on the bill which I received which was more than I have ever had to pay - ever. But mostly, because I know that they have the power to help with the bill, I used to work in a clinic, and right now we all might be needing some help in some shape or form, but they chose not to help. We all get to choose the people we go to for our care, and when those people do not actual show care, then we have a responsibility to let other people know. Unfortunately, they have the power, all we have as consumers are reviews and the better business bureau, and so that is why I am leaving this review. I hope it is helpful for someone. Hopefully you won't find yourself in the same predicament.

A truly refreshing and professional office experience! I don't know where to begin, but the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth you only find in the Midwest; everyone is super professional but still personable and down-to-earth. I've been seeing various eye doctors for over 25 years, and Dr. Hanen's expertise stood out immediately. He was the first to really make me feel reassured there were clear, viable options for my astigmatism. The entire staff makes the visit a pleasure and takes care of you like they've known you for years. I wish I found this place sooner. It's a true gem!

Everyone there is thorough and professional. The eye exam is the most complete I have ever had and they take great care to see that glasses fit properly. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't go any where else. I have been going there for years. Dr. Mike is good at what he does, and he is very kind. His people are always helpful. If you need a eye doctor you won't regret it .
