We had Optimum Internet for years. The rate went up several times. We called and they decreased it one of the times we called. It recently went up substantially so I decided to cancel Optimum. When I canceled Optimum, they kept me on the phone for over an hour the first time. The first woman I talked to was pushy but not rude. She then transferred me to a retention specialist and the guy was the absolute rudest person I have ever had to deal with in a business. At one point he told me he was going to hang up on me so I'd have to start the process all over. He also condescendingly stated "you seem like you're in a hurry," when I stated yes and that I had been on the phone with them for almost an hour, he stated "I'm sorry you decided to call at 8:00 at night" (I actually called around 6:50). He also called me irrational because I told him I still wanted to cancel even after they offered me free internet for a period of time. It was absolutely absurd treatment of a customer! After that, the process to return the model was as difficult as it could be. They told me I only had a modem (I didn't remember because it had been several years and I also figured anything I had might be paid for after years of monthly payments). I drove it about 30 minutes one way to drop it at a store. They told me everything was returned. Then they charged me for an extender. I then took that back. They told me my account was closed. Then they charged me for something else I didn't even know I had so I took that back. They could have told me I needed to return all 3 things from the beginning but they try to get you to just pay for it. I will never go back to Optimum and highly recommend against them. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

On Friday, December 7th I met with Austin at the Optimum Store in Branson Landing, Missouri because I had locked myself out of my phone and did not remember my pin number. Austin tried for quite a while to see if he could retrieve all of my photos and contacts, but without me knowing my pin, he had to reset my phone back to the factory settings; which caused me to lose my photos and contacts. On Monday, December 8th I went back to the Optimum Store and was lucky enough to have Austin help me. I need Austim help with some issues that I was still having with my phone; which he corrected right. He then told me he was thinking about my phone over the weekend, and had thought of a way to retrieve my pictures and contacts. I gave him back my phone and he started reading up on information. After a while he told me he was able to retrieve my photos and contacts. When he handed me my phone to look at my photos they where all back as well as all of my contacts. Austin is truly a miracle worker. I have to say Optimum hit it out of the park for having Optimum as one of their employees. Austin us the best, and definitely knows what he is doing with cell phones. Thank Austin, you are a definite life saver!!!!!!!

Do not use Optimum for anything. They solicit products to consumers, and when consumers take the bait, consumers have to follow the infuriating policy and procedures to get out of being billed. Here is my story below, still not resolved, and still being billed for services I have repeatedly requested by cancelled. On January 5, 2026 at approximately 6:30 PM (CST), I returned all Optimum-owned equipment and received a receipt confirming return at the Optimum office located at 1101 Branson Landing Blvd, Branson, MO 65616. The office personnel informed me they can only sign people up for service, but cannot cancel service. On January 5, 2026 at approximately 6:58 PM (CST), I contacted Optimum customer service and spoke with Mariano Joselito for approximately 49 minutes. During this call: - I made a clear and repeated request to cancel and disconnect my service due to moving. - I explicitly declined all offers to retain, move, or add service. - I requested confirmation of cancellation, which was refused. - I was informed the cancellation request would be submitted to the appropriate team. - I was advised no prorated credit would be issued for January. I paid the January service bill on January 17, 2026, which covered service through February 3, 2026, despite my cancellation request already being made on January 5. On January 29, 2026, I received a bill for February service, despite having called and cancelled service and returned all equipment. On January 29, 2026 at approximately 8:08 AM, I again contacted Optimum and spoke with customer service for approximately 36 minutes. During this call: - I again requested cancellation and disconnection of service. - I was informed that a disconnect request was now scheduled for January 31, 2026. - I was transferred to Andrea, who stated that the February bill could not be removed until disconnection occurred. - I was told a credit may be issued later, despite the original cancellation request being made on January 5. - I requested an email address to provide legal notice and was informed Optimum would only accept such notice via traditional mail. On January 29, 2026 I mailed formal notice to Optimum corporate office in NY that my service should be terminated. It is now February 3, 2026 and they still have not cancelled my service and are requesting payment for the February bill. If Optimum fails to resolve this matter promptly, I am prepared to pursue all available remedies, including but not limited to filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, FCC, the Missouri Attorney General, disputing charges through my financial institution, and seeking relief through small claims court.
