Animal eye associates always makes us feel welcome, heard, and cared for. I know my pet will be safe here and that's whats most important. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable, the doctors never rush an appointment, and I never wait more than a few minutes to be seen. Thank you Animal Eye for being such a comfort in our many times of need. We will always be grateful. Never change
Knowledgeable and caring team of doctors and staff! They provided specialized care to our family dog with severe eye issues and blindness. The clinic even made a charitable donation in honor of him after he recently passed away. We appreciate all of their care and expertise.
My dog had been diagnosed with hereditary glaucoma. She was only three months when we started our journey and she is now currently six months. She is now on the road to recovery. She had a double enucleation done and animal eye associates made the process easy and seamless. They were very informative on her diagnosis and very upfront on the end outcome. My dog is now pain free and able to enjoy the rest of her life as a normal dog would. Thank you.
Staff here is just wonderful! We lost an eye on my baby pomeranian but not for a lack of effort. I hope to never need to go back but if we ever do, I trust this team and would highly reccomend them to anyone.
We had an eye emergency with our cat and was able to get in right away. Over the holidays, had multiple visits trying to help her, but ultimately she had to have her eye removed. This was incredibly stressful, but the staff and doctors at Animal Eye Associates were absolutely wonderful. Everyone was so caring and kind. I've worked in (human) ophthalmology for 15 years... I know what it's like to have a patient go through these things. It's a difficult process to navigate, but the care we received was top tier. My cat has healed up wonderfully. I highly recommend this office (both Ellisville and Kirkwood locations). I am so thankful for everything they have done for us.
The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The doctor I saw definitely knew what she was doing, and is trustworthy. The office also was very clean and neat.
When you take your animal to a Vet. The Vet should not be looking for a "problem" from the get go. They come at you as a group of people in the exam room. When Dr Ben Johnson owned this office you could get eyes evaluated and certified with OFA. This was easy to do if one missed a local kennel club OFA clinic. When we arrived after Ben retired. I felt the Drs were looking for a "problem". And without the right equipment they claimed my dog has glaucoma. I ended up going to U of Mo for a second opinion and the very people who taught and certified the Drs in Maplewood said the dogs were clear of glaucoma. Also prices are considerable high at Maplewood. If you really need a dog eye vet please go to the Vet School's small animal clinic in Columbia. They actually care and don't try to gouge you on unnecessary fees. Forward 4 years. I had a dog with extra eye lashes. Surgery was quoted at $3000. But when it was performed at the Animal eye Associates there was considerable inflammation like the dog was in a bar fight. After swelling subsided it was determined the dog would need another surgery to correct the first surgery. They wanted another $1300. I instead took the dog to U of Mo vet school in columbia mo to get re-evaluated. Dog received the corrective surgery, there was no inflammation post surgery she recovered faster than before and we were charged $700. If you need something done i highly recommend taking animals to the vet school first. Or getting a second opinion at the vet school's small animal clinic. Get it done the first time correctly. Prices at Animal Eye Associated are jacked up because they hold a Saint Louis address. .
Waste of time and money
I am not impressed with your clinic at all. I basically wasted 287 $, just to come out with less knowledge "given" than I already had before getting there.
Mostly spent my time sitting around in the lobby and the treatment room than having a professional to talk to, which is why I came.
My dog Haile has a soft fibrous growth behind his right eye. I know he does, because 1) I have seen it close up many times, and 2) the veterinarian at my regular vet clinic took it out in surgery some time ago, and there is a report of that. She sutured the spot, behind the eyelid, during surgery. Now it seems to be growing in the tissue pocket and not coming out from under the eyelid anymore.
What that tells me is, that since the other vet was able to suture the spot under the eyelid, it means there is access to it without damaging the eye ball. Your doctor said it could not be taken away without loss of the eye! The next best thing was to suggest Haile should have cranial surgery at Specialty Veteriarians Clinic, with cutting open the side of the skull! Nothing less! Wow! My doggie is 17 years old!
And to top things off, your doctor came out with the possibility of it being cancer! Is that always the first assumption, without having investigated the situation via lab tests? The doctor in my regular office already ruled that out, it was in the file.
Scare tactics, anyone?? And that was it, no better advice or good ideas.
If things were right, I should get my money back.
I also felt like I was the guinea pig for the technician to learn how to fill out his form, and for the student doctor in the room, who repeated for her training every gesture the doctor did to examine my dog. That was by far the major part of my entire time there! That was about all I got. I would not recommend them to anyone!
