I have been a patient at your office for some time, and until recently, I have had no major concerns. However, my experience on January 26, 2026, was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. When I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment, I was met with unnecessary rudeness from the front desk staff. I was told that the office had been calling me regarding my appointment and that no return calls were received. This is inaccurate. The only call I received was on Friday confirming my appointment for 1/26, and I attended as scheduled. I was then spoken to rudely regarding my insurance being listed as inactive. I calmly explained that it was inactive because I now have new insurance, yet the tone and attitude remained disrespectful. At that point, I questioned why I was being treated so poorly. I decided to reschedule, at which time another staff member rushed out and stated that I had to do same-day appointment due to "missing several appointments," which is also not true. Notes are being placed in my account indicating that calls were made when they were not. In fact, I had to call the office myself last week after missing one appointment due to mixing up my dates, and I explained that I had not been receiving courtesy reminder calls. I am a nurse with a very hectic schedule, but I always do my best to communicate and be respectful. Disrespect from staff is not acceptable under any circumstances. Unfortunately, one particular staff member has consistently been rude in the past, she's very much so racist and while I previously gave the benefit of the doubt, this interaction confirmed my concerns. I truly value the care provided by the doctor, but due to the ongoing behavior of the front desk staff, I will be seeking care elsewhere.

I had a good experience during my vision exam. The vision assistant Marissa was very kind and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Stresser was trustworthy and patient with me. She answered my questions and was thorough. Dawn helped me pick out a pair of glasses. My only concern was that I was charged for lens add ons like scratch coating and anti reflection without being told if they were optional or not and my insurance didn't cover them.

This location of Clarkson Eyecare offers hands-down the best customer service I have ever experienced. The staff are efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. They operate smoothly as a team; you feel very well taken care of.

Horrible experience. The front desk staff was rude and unprofessional, especially a woman named Martha. We arrived on time (in fact, a few minutes before the actual appointment) for our appointment and were actively filling out the paperwork at 9:07, which is still within the 10-minute grace period, yet she refused to see us and claimed we were "late." Her attitude was disrespectful from the start. She made unnecessary comments like saying it was "weird" that we didn't receive text reminders for the appointment, even though that's not something patients control. The way she spoke to us felt discriminatory and made us extremely uncomfortable. She then argued with us and claimed we "should've known better" to bring an insurance card, even though we were never told to bring it and I've never been required to for previous appointments. We were able to get the insurance information anyway, but she remained dismissive and disrespectful. No one should be treated this way at a medical office. Completely unacceptable, and I would not recommend this place.

Clarkson on Ladue Rd always delivers an exceptional service experience! I love Dr. Strasser too! She's the Best!!!

I went here for years. I ordered some glasses and saw that they had added an $85 coating, which we did not discuss, so I asked them to remove that. They said a change order would cost $40, and would not back off that. So I cancelled the entire order and my next exam, will never deal with them again. That's how they want to do business.

1star for the awesome eye doctor I've been seeing for at least 10 years and 1 star for the young lady who was professional and patient enough to help me choose eyeglasses for my childlike adult face. Three stars lost for the one employee that has worked there the longest. She has been unprofessional and prejudice since I've been coming there. I wanted to give her the benefit of doubt however she showed her true self again. The doctor let me know to ask about the smaller frames with the assistance of the team. This woman and the other one decided to stay seated and pointed, letting me know I can try ALL the frames on if I want to know which ones work best. The other woman sitting with her did all my work up before seeing the eye doctor, with not ONE smile on her face the whole 22 minutes. I talked to her, cried happy tears of excitement, gave compliments and she was straight faced the whole time. After I realized I was not getting assistance finding the right frames, I cried. I set to the side what I thought would work for me then took a seat. A customer noticed me and my emotions from how the staff treated and asked if I was okay. The doctor was ready for me after dilation so I relaxed and followed her. After the doctor I came out and the young lady who deserves the star went to each case and chose professionally which frames work best for me, I almost cried again, just appreciating her kindness and compassion for her work. I did not find a frame I really like so she suggested I try other locations and see her afterwards. She was truly welcoming and great . I am hurt that I I love my eye doctor of many years and can not continue with her due to the unprofessional treatment of her colleagues. I will be sending a special thank you card to her for just being her, she's very special and down to earth, takes her time, remembers you, cares and definitely professionally dedicated to doing her BEST work! I dread returning and finding out my only assistance may come from the unpleasant, unwelcoming, clearly obvious prejudice women I faced this day. It took me 2 days to stop thinking about how I was treated while trying to get to sleep. Please do better for the TEAM ladies. Eyes are important! Who cares for them is just as important! 1 apple can really truly spoil the whole bunch!

I had a great experience at the St. Louis - Ladue location. The assistant and doctor were very thorough with the exam. Each step was explained to me. I will continue to visit this location for all of my eyecare needs.
