Dr. Mary Murphy

I recently moved to st louis and was looking for a new eye Dr and came across this location - I came in for an exam and was told that my prescription had increased +2.00 after just having an exam last year and having no change!!! Odd.. but I trust it. I receive my contacts and wow was the prescription WAY too strong. I returned to have her re-examine and she reduced the script down by a whole -1.00! I'm no eye doctor but I have been told by a few in the past that changes like these in a matter of one year is out of the ordinary - let alone having a -1.00 shift in just 3 weeks...?! I proceed to order contacts in this new script and have them update my eyeglasses as well.... I now just feel discomfort and my eyes trying to adjust significantly more than usual when switching between my glasses and contacts. I have been wearing both for 10+ years so I know this feeling is not normal. I have scheduled an appointment with a different office to see an optometrist to get this corrected and get the right prescription. FURTHERMORE, during my visits, it was very apparent this office is looking to squeeze every dollar out of insurance benefits - having me come back for a contact fitting when she fit me upon the first visit and I have been wearing them for 10 years?! Not wanting to provide O.D. measurements unless you purchase product from them! I understand this is legal under MO law but feels gross for a Dr to do! I will not be returning to Dr Murphy .. Beware!!!

I saw Dr Mary Murphy for many years at the old location in Shrewsbury . Every single year she told me "I can make an adjustment for you" and that my prescription had changed. Sometime around 2005 I stopped trusting her and have been seeing Dr Todd Lucas ever since. In that amount of time I only needed my prescription updated ONCE. Interesting that my script no longer needed an update every year.

We have been going to Dr Mary for more than 20 years! She & her staff are friendly and professional. Dr Mary keeps up on the latest technology. Their glasses selection is great!!

Very polite and friendly, they took care of of my vision needs
