I cannot say enough good about this ophthalmology group. All of the physicians and staff are friendly, helpful, professional, and very competent. I have received wonderful care. I highly recommend this practice. I have seen several specialists and was very impressed with all of them.
I called for an opthomologist appointment a few weeks ago & after a long wait on hold they told me I needed a referral from my doctor. I got the referral yesterday and called back. They now tell me I need a referral from an eye doctor with a diagnosis. Why would my current opthomologist give a referral to someone who is leaving the practice? Unbelievable.
The front desk seems to be staffed with the rudest people they could find for the task. The doctors apparently make appointments with their associates, on behalf of patients, without checking with the patients to see if these times are convenient. Testing schedules are set so that the patient is expected to sit in their waiting areas for up to an hour between tests. Twice, I have come for an appointment to be told "we tried to call you to reschedule" when no phone calls were made to the only number I have. When I showed the rude person at the desk my call history, the doctor was mysteriously available after all. Since I'm leaving St Louis within the next couple of months, I won't be looking for other providers, but am relieved I won't have to deal with this provider any longer.
Simply an observer, waiting while I have brought a friend in several times, I would just like to say that the staff here are just wonderful. From the women at the front desk, on up to the drs, they treat all the patients with the utmost respect and kindness. It is refreshing, and a pleasure, to wait and watch while my friend receives excellent care. Should I ever need eye care in the future, this is the clinic I will choose.
Horrible customer service every time I have called on the phone. None of the service reps seem to know their own process for how medical records are transferred over. One rep is telling me they have my information while another says they have not received anything. AND THE FINAL 3RD REP JUST HANGS UP ON THE PHONE.
The care I receive for Glaucoma has been excellent. The surgeries successful, and the Ophthalmologists do listen.
I would give 5 stars, except they are careless with eyeglasses. TWICE, my glasses have been damaged while in their care, & no acknowledgement or replacement was offered. First time, the MD knocked them to the floor (accident) but while trying to pick them up, the earpiece caught on his stool wheel, and he pulled them across the floor, lens down, creating 3 long scratches across both lenses where they touched the floor. They were less than a week old, and cost $600. (frame was $85, the rest of the cost is the lenses) He knew he scratched them, saw the scratches but did not offer any compensation to replace the lenses. He simply handed them to me with a "sorry". I couldn't afford to replace them, so I wore them 3 years, scratches and all.
The last visit, the technician took my next pair ($680) to read the prescription on the lensometer, (or something similar) and must not have picked up the part in contact with the eyeglasses while moving them center- because I have a wide scratch both vertical and horizontal RIGHT IN THE CENTER of the lenses, that wasn't there that morning, but appeared later that night.
This is the EXACT same spot the pupil looks through - so there is no ignoring it. Again, I can't afford to replace the lenses (which is the bulk of the cost).
Better training is necessary, especially if the prescription is higher, prisms, progressive, transition, or A-R coated. (cha-ching)
Or if damaged in their care, help replace them.
I will never hand my eyeglasses over again.
I can't afford too.
