I have Essence Medicare and have all of my providers in the BJC system. I had a horrible encounter with Washington Univ Eye Center at Forest Park on 5/28/2025. I had already ascertained that they are an Essence provider. I had scheduled a routine eye exam, which Essence covers in full. However, this place asked for a $30 copay; and wanted $50 more for the refractive index, which is needed for a lens prescription. I waited two months for this appointment, even though it was with Dr. Eeuling, a very recent graduate of an optometric (not MD) program. I could just as well get someone with that lack of experience with Crown or Clarkson Vision. Besides the inadequate provider at this Outpatient Center, the parking is a nightmare. Just refuse Dr. Euling and go somewhere else.
