I do not recommend Dr. Obermark for children with special needs. I brought my five year old daughter with autism for her eye exam before starting kindergarten. The staff was very friendly. They asked if my daughter knew her alphabet. I said yes, but reminded them that she has autism and might not respond to direct questions. When Dr. Obermark came in he was rude and impatient while conducting the eye exam on my daughter. My daughter was doing amazingly well at responding when he asked what the letter was on the screen ( I was honestly impressed). However, anytime she took longer than a few seconds to answer his question he would tell her something along the lines of 'come on focus' in a rude tone. Patience and kindness is not too much to ask from a doctor whether the child has special needs or not.

He is very kind, to the point , explains everything clearly, very Good Eye Doctor!

If I could give "0" stars I would. I called and made an appointment bc our old eye doctor doesn't take our new insurance. She checked my new insurance but it doesn't cover eye exams. I asked the woman answering the phone if I could bring in 2 younger kids with me bc of COVID rules (Plus my son who was also having an eye exam) and was told yes but it may take longer. It is hard trying to take care of younger children and yourself and unfortunately didn't have anyone to watch them while I had my appointment. I was checked in and Dr. Obermark came down the hall and said that this was "risky behavior" and he didn't feel comfortable partaking in "risky behavior". I said that I could leave and he replied that I was already there and see how the kids do. 1 was in a pumpkin seat and the other was in my arms during the appointment. I ended up finishing appointment and paying (high price tag- but was told price before I scheduled appointment). Hindsight is 20/20. I should have just left when Dr. Obermark first greeted me rudely.

Beautiful frames, very friendly and pleasant people. I was recommended tri-focals, I've worn glasses most of my life, it was the first time I've heard of them and the worst recommendation I've received, they replaced them with bifocals with no hassle.

Dr. Obermark has been my eye doctor since he purchased Dr. Niewald's practice in downtown Washington and I can't imagine going anywhere else! The office is clean, well designed and friendly. I do not have insurance that covers my eye care and I feel that Obermark Optometry gives me a fair price and excellent service!

Went there a year ago in July and had a torn retina and even though he dialated my eye, he completely missed it. A week later it was detached and it was a mess! I told him about my symptoms and he could have referred me to a specialist but he told me I had cataracts. Had to have emergency surgery!

I had a new patient appointment yesterday with Dr Obermark and I was thoroughly impressed with him and his staff. They were all very friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help me. I'm very happy to find a great doctor locally.

Dr. Obermark did a great job of explaining my options as a post Lasix surgery and mono vision person. Very professional and personable.
