I had my LASIK done with Dr. Maw, and he truly changed my life. I am forever grateful to him. Being able to wake up and see clearly right away -- and care for my child without worrying about glasses or contacts -- has been incredible and life-changing.
Dr. Maw is genuinely caring, takes his time, and makes sure every question is answered, which gave me complete confidence throughout the process. I cannot say enough good things about him and highly recommend Dr. Maw to anyone considering LASIK.
Oh my goodness!!! If you want a doctor's office that runs like a well-oiled machine, you have found the place!! Dr. Maw and his team have thought of everything!! Any questions I might have had were always well addressed and mostly before I had even asked them!
When I had a question after hours, Dr. Maw personally, promptly, and very kindly responded to my text message himself!!
Dr. Grange removed my mom's cataracts!! So I'm second generation for Eye Specialists and it's EASY to SEE why ((see what I did there?)) Thank you Dr. Maw and ALL of the wonderful staff at Eye Specialists
The cataract surgery went well. The day after my first eye was done, I could read the bottom line on the chart. However my vision deteriorated such that I could only read the 4th from the bottom line by July. I had purchased the most expensive lenses, so Dr. Maw, for free, offered to do Lasix surgery and guaranteed I would have excellent vision after that. I had the procedure done Aug. 1. I found it to be a trying and stressful surgery which I would not wish upon anyone! I was given Tylenol PM as a calming agent and it served to make my stomach queasy. It would have been better to have been sedated so that I would not have undergone the procedure aware of what they were doing! Dr. Maw was great at speaking to calm me, but it was traumatic! It is now the middle of October. I still see large halos around lights and wide fuzzy frames around speed limit signs at night, and oncoming traffic is blinding. Since the cataract surgery, occasionally I feel like the lens in the right eye slides around, and sometimes my eye feels like it is trying to twist in its socket to avoid the brightness of lights. Since Lasix surgery, my eyes are at times, extremely sensitive to light (much moreso than with the cataract surgery), sometimes making it hard to drive in the daytime even with very dark sun glasses. In addition, I find it much more difficult distinguishing writing or drawings when there is low contrast between the paper and the print, and occasionally my eyes will cross. However, I can read my Bible now, which I could not do with the cataracts, even with glasses. So, long story short - cataract surgery was great and I should have stopped there and continued in glasses! And, Dr. Maw delivered on what he said - I just didn't expect these other things. I am hoping that with time, the halos and sensitivity to light will dissipate.
I had LASIK eye surgery yesterday and he did a phenomenal job! Extremely happy with the outcome and couldn't be more happier! Thank you Richard Maw for all your hard work and making this possible for me! Him and the staff at the west Des Moines location was amazing helpful nice and very considerate. 10/10 recommend.
I was very apprehensive about the cataract procedure and Dr Maw led me through what to expect before, during and after the surgery. I couldn't be happier with his proficiency and professionalism which is greatly appreciated. I would recommend his services to anyone contemplating cataract surgery especially if they are as skeptical as I was about the procedure. Thank you Dr. Maw and your staff. Daniel Ogorek
