I have been a patient of Dr. Byrnes for at least 35 years, as have some of my family. He's an excellent Dr. and passes on his expertise to students by having them practice their growing skills with his patients then walks them,and us, through everything. He's generous with his skill and his time.

This office is the best place I have ever been to. I have never met a more caring & through office. I rather they take the time I need to assess my eye health than hurry through the exam & miss something. Dr. Byrnes is the best doctor around. He takes the time to explain what is going on the treatment that needs to be done. He does his research & knows what needs to be done. His staff Cheryl is extremely friendly & hard worker for you. She does whatever she can meet your needs. Choose this office because no one is better for your care.

Dr. Byrnes is the best optometrist ever. He has been my optometrist for several years. He found the correct fitting contacts for me when no one else did and has been amazing in dealing with my cataracts and my vision after surgery. I have had dry eye problems which he has successfully treated. My progressive eyeglass fit is great. He is extremely knowledgeable about anything related to my eyes and is super at demonstrating and explaining what I need to know. His assistant Cheryl is so very knowledgeable and helpful. She is a pleasure to work with! I can't recommend Dr Byrnes highly enough!

I am 57 and I have been seeing Dr.Byrnes since I was a teenager. I moved to the seacoast area and I still make the drive to see Dr.Byrnes. I have really bad vision and he helped me through many years to find the best contacs for me. He is the ultimate professional but feels like a beloved family member at this point in time. Cheryl is very sweet and extremely competent. I really have no idea what I'm going to do when he retires.

I have been a regular patient of Dr. Byrnes for many years now I go annually for eye exams. He is always incredibly thorough, kind, and professional. When I raise any concern about my vision he explains what's going on and treats it appropriately.

This is Grace Crouse, not Emily. Have been a patient of Dr. Byrnes' for close to 27 years which in itself is telling. Dr Byrnes is extremely thorough, his appointments are not rushed. He will show you exactly what he sees on the screen and will educate you on your status. He has had many interns because they choose to work with him based on his experience and reputation. Recently he brought me in at the end of the day before a holiday for an issue I was having because he didn't want me going that long without answers.Another time I was on vacation on a weekend and he called me to get me through a contact lens crisis. One thing that really impressed me is that he has been tapped to serve on multiple movie sets to personally care for high profile actors, and one time he cut his time short because he was bored and wanted to get back to his patients, that alone tells me where his heart is, I'm sure it was a very "cushy" opportunity and others may have taken complete advantage of the situation and experience. In addition Cheryl who runs the entire office is bar none incredible and so sweet. She treats you like a friend and makes sure she does everything she can to help. Thank you both so very much !

If I could five it a 0 I would. Please be advised, you will be seen by a bunch of interns. And the interns' levels of experience are very different. Some know more than others but unfortunately Dr Byrnes does not follow the intern through the process. You'll sit in a room alone with an intern for hours, at the end they provide the Dr the information so he can come in and see you for probably 10 minutes a session. I was unfortunate to spend about $1500 on scleral contact lenses that Dr Byrnes released me with even though I was seeing double vision/ghosting. I mentioned many times that I didnt feel safe, specially driving at night. It took about 3 months for Dr Byrnes to agree to change my contact lenses and try to figure out what worked best. Dr Byrnes said the current technology was the best it could give me at the moment but there were not other lense options. The end outcome was still horrible but the warranty on the lenses ran out because I wasted so much time seeing the interns. I had a second opinion at Concord eye care and the results were completely different with a different style scleral lense. My first set of contact lenses were a lot better than what Dr Byrnes permanently sent me home with. When I called them about my second opinion Dr Byrnes refused to reimburse any amount. He may have been one of the best in his prime, now it appears like his interships, vendor relationships and pockets are more of a priority than patient care. I personally recommended seeking other options because no matter how you express what you're experiencing, he will not listen and try force you to believe the "eyes will get used to it".
