Dr. Tyszko is awesome. Always explains everything in great detail and easily to understand. I'll never see another eye doctor as long as I can help it. Staff is also just as amazing.
I have a very difficult eye situation that everyone worked so hard to rectify. They were so kind, patient and willing to try so many things. Very pleased with the entire staff!
I have been a patient of Dr Tyszkos for over 15 years and I have received nothing but excellent and consistent care. He is very thorough, explains things well and takes the time to listen to my concerns. Every visit I have had has always been a good one from checking in to checking out. I would recommend anyone to Our Town Eye Care.
Dr. Tyszko has earned my respect as the ultimate goal in healthcare.
He pays attention to the details and THINKS about how to solve a patient's problems and EXPLAINS the options and what the pro and cons of each option are.
In my case, my eyes have a combination of details that can lead to blindness when I get older and I feel REALLY good that I have "Dr. T" keeping watch on the predicted changes as they pop up and that I get the proper treatment the FIRST time because he had a plan all ready to go.
If you have NORMAL eyes, I would still recommend Our Town Eye Care because along with the detailed care of "Dr. T" the rest of the staff is top notch, including the technician that does the testing and scanning before your appointment and Scott the optician after the appointment. The folks behind the desk are always helpful and attentive.
Five stars. Healthcare the way it is supposed to be.
**IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SAVE MONEY AND NOT OVERSPEND $1,000 ON GLASSES, PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW IN FULL!**
I am a 24-year-old student. This month, I realized that I needed a new pair of glasses. I have a light, single vision prescription for my eyeglasses currently: I see perfectly close up but struggle to see in the distance (I'm near sighted) - I simply needed my eyeglass prescription tweaked and new single vision eyeglasses. Thus, I booked a visit with Dr. Tyszko. However, when the bill ended up being nearly $1,000 for new glasses, since he firmly recommended bifocals, I decided to get a second professional opinion from my optometrist friend, who also earned her optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry at the top of her class (the same school that Dr. Tyszko earned his optometry degree from), to conclude that I received ineffective advice from Dr. Tyszko: I should have been recommended single vision glasses (at a significantly lower cost), not expensive bifocals.
Dr. Tyszko recommended that I switch from single vision glasses to bifocals. His reasoning was that I am a student, and the assumption is that I am straining my eyes by reading books close up and then looking far away to the white board in a classroom. However, I tried to explain facts unique to my personal situation: I barely wear my glasses and only use them when looking in the distance; I prefer to wear no glasses when reading, since my vision is perfect close up. Therefore, it would have made the most sense to stick with single vision glasses and save a significant amount of money. However, Dr. Tyszko firmly recommended bifocal lenses (at double the cost of single vision lenses), so I could prevent the "eye strain" that I never even have felt before...
What I learned after receiving a second opinion from my optometrist friend: "Bifocals are usually given to those who have muscle issues focusing up close in younger patients or older patients who no longer have the ability to do so. For you, I wouldn't recommend bifocals because you don't need the extra help at near. I wouldn't suggest getting bifocals this young when you don't need it. Additionally, your prescription is very light: you still have like 9.00 diopters left to accommodate; you don't feel eyestrain until that number gets closer to 0."
I have been going to Dr. Tysko for many years (for as long as he has been at the Peterborough office). Even though there are eye doctors in my town, I choose to drive the 30 minutes because I always trust his opinion and appreciate that he listens to my concerns. Everyone at his office is a pleasure to work with as well. They all take the time to know you and make you feel welcome and heard at the office.
I've been going to Dr. Tyszko for years now and I love him. He spends time with you, listens to you and truly cares about you not only as a patient but as a person! His staff is always so helpful. This is a great place, you become part of the family!
I have always loved Dr. Tyszko. I have been seeing him for almost 20 years now. However, the past year to a couple years I have noticed some unfortunate negative changes. I can't even get in to see him anymore, and they book out 3 months now. I don't know if there are more patients than they can handle but it's disappointing.
Not to mention last year after my glasses came in I was told I'd have to wait two more weeks just to see someone to check the fitting!? My pair at the time were broken so I just picked the new pair up without getting them fit but it has sucked. I REALLY don't want to, but I'm considering seeking eye care elsewhere.
