I had an excellent experience from start to finish! The front desk staff were welcoming and efficient, making check-in smooth and stress-free. Liz was fantastic in helping me book my appointment -- so kind, patient, and accommodating. Luana made the payment process quick and easy, and was such a pleasure to talk with. Valerie and Shakerra were both professional, friendly, and attentive, making sure everything ran seamlessly. Dr. Mantopoulos was absolutely wonderful -- thorough, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I felt completely comfortable and confident in his care. Truly a five-star team! I highly recommend New Brunswick NJRetina to anyone looking for exceptional and outstanding service.

Long time patient there and every doctor I've seen has been stellar. And the staff is very friendly. But the reason for the review now is I found out their emergency services is also top notch. I had an issue on a Sunday and the doctor on call got back to me right away and they had me in early on Monday morning. Luckily nothing serious but good to know how top of things that are If the need arises

I will be forever grateful that Luana, Julie and Dr. Alfaro were there when I needed them. From the moment that I walked in the door on a Saturday and was greeted by Luana, I knew that I was in good hands. Thanks to the referral from Califon Eye Associates, who found that I had a retinal tear, on a Friday afternoon, I was scheduled for an appointment the very next day at 9 AM in NJRetina's New Brunswick location. Luana, the receptionist, was compassion personified. She was simply so friendly and efficient, which was so very much what I needed being that the symptoms of a torn retina are quite unnerving. As I write this review almost two weeks later, I remain grateful for her kindness. Julie provided me with excellent screening, and guided me through the pre-surgery process with sensitivity. She clearly explained what she was doing as she collected data, and immediately established a rapport with me. Julie most assuredly gave me excellent customer service and should be used as a model in future training videos! Dr. Alfaro had such a genuine, tranquil presence. Not only did he relieve my anxiety, but he took the time to actually show me a photo of my retinal tear. While I am certain that he has performed this laser surgery hundreds of time before my arrival, I felt truly cared for a valued as a patient. Dr. Wheatley provided me with a follow-up exam just a few days ago. He was very thorough and kind. Quite frankly, I consider it simply amazing that I once again have 20/20 vision in such a short time. I appreciate that Dr. Wheatley's thoroughness in scheduling a final month follow-up appointment. My wholehearted thanks to NJRetina and its exemplary Doctors and Staff! I highly recommend this practice!

I went to the Retina Center in New Brunswick with my wife, who has cancer in her eye. She received radiation and now needs injections due to severe retina problems. She is almost blind in that eye, and this has been an incredibly hard time for us. Unfortunately, during our visit, one of the nurses treated my wife very harshly and without compassion. I was heartbroken and had to speak up, asking why she was being so tough when my wife was clearly suffering. What made it worse is that, after this incident, the center decided to stop treating my wife entirely. They told us she could no longer go to any of their branches for care. I couldn't believe it. Now, we have to travel over an hour to another center just to get her the care she needs. It's exhausting and painful -- emotionally and physically. I never thought we would be treated this way, especially in a time when kindness and understanding should come first. I still can't believe there are people in healthcare today with such a lack of empathy.

Staff and Doctor were caring and explained my situation in a way I could understand

I can not say enough good things about Dr Savant. He is very knowledgeable, professional and approachable. My first visit was a very scary time for me. He was very calming he took his time to explain what was going on with my eye. Every visit I have had after my surgery he takes his time to answer all of my questions. He is a wonderful Dr. the office staff is also very professional. I do wish that more Drs and staff were as caring as NJ Retina. Colleen Galicki

Great physicians but above all great customer service.

I waited 2 hours to be seen for a 5 minute exam! There were approximately 15+ people waiting to see one of 2 doctors. I inquired about wait time and was told there were 2 people ahead of me.. that was the start of my 2 hour wait! They herd you from one waiting area to another to help you think you are making progress with your wait time! The technician who did an eye test seemed shocked that I was unable to read the letters, asking me to try again and kept telling me blink again then try again. That wasnt too encouraging and seemed a bit unprofessional! At the end of my 2 hr 10 min appointment I was scheduled to meet with the Office Manager about my experience, at the encouragement of the doctor. Well, I had to wait to talk with her so, as my ride to the doctor had to leave because the appointment was so long I needed to call someone for a pick up (my eyes are dilated). The Manager called me and apologized as they were supposedly short staffed. I suggested they show integrity for their patients and call patients to let them be aware that there may be a long wait so re-scheduling is an option! She said this would not happen again , and I agreed as I told her I will not be back.
