Matossian Eye Associates - Hopewell Office

Had an appointment at 1:40 and attended me at 3:00. All they did was say everything was good and they charged $120.80. Which was still only 20% of the original price ($640) I will NOT recommend this place its all a scam to launder money off of you, i wish i could give 0 stars. If you get a referral off here please speak with your doctor to change places, they hook you in by not charging your first appointment and then giving an insane fee for the second. Having someone in the waiting room for almost 2 hours and just having someone read letters is not worth the 100+ dollars. They put some type of drops in my mothers eyes and now she hasnt been able to see for almost and hour. I really hope this is temporary. They did a much much better job the first time than the second.

If I could leave no stars I would. This place does not care about patients time. I had a 5:30 pm apt on 10-16-25. Dr finally came in at about 6:15, then tells me she's going to dilate my eyes. She disappeared until 6:35 when she finally dilated them. I didn't get out of dr until 7:20 pm. Almost 2 hrs for an eye appointment is ridiculous. WILL NEVER COME BACK

The office staff was courteous and the tech both pleasant and clearly capable. The one star was earned by Ilya Rozenbaum. Given the very few minutes he was present I could not clearly adjudge his skill, though it sufficed for me to determine him to be lacking in the respect I expect from any physician.

The bad part is none of my glasses worked with the script I got here. Then after surgery the updated script was worse. I went back to "VisionWorks" [yea] and got re-examined and told me script was not correct. I wasted money on 4 pairs of glasses. Also all the dilations, tests, getting driven out... which when I get my new glasses pair #5 ill follow up. Aside from that staff is very courteous. The Dr is a real commander, meticulous in surgery. The Toric IOL is weird so far I see rings at night which I never had before. Light flickers when in store isles.

Dr. Priya Desai gets an A+. Did a fabulous job surgically removing my cataracts. But Dr. Tristan Barrueco gets a D-. He rushed my exam for glasses after surgery and did not give enough time between "this or this" when flipping lenses to really be sure. Bifocals don't work for either distance or reading, so I drive without them ans had to buy readers. Computer glasses are too strong and give me headaches. Had to go back to my regular optometrist and pay to have another exam and my glasses remade. New prescription was very different. So I would say great surgeon Priya Desai, but I will never go to Dr. Barrueco again.

The front desk receptionist is combative and rude for no reason. She could have just said "Sorry, I can't help you with that" and left it at that but she got really aggressive and angry with me for asking some follow-up questions about my own previous prescription. I really have no clue why she had such an issue when there was really no issue. She kept cutting me off mid-sentence and was just generally a miserable and condescending person to have to interact with. This is not the first time this has happened with this office. A few months ago a different receptionist refused to let me pick up my own medical record in person because she "didn't know how to print it out." Every interaction I have with this office is always so ridiculous and bizarre...I've never had this many issues with any other doctor's front desk ever. I'll take my business elsewhere - there are plenty of other great eye doctors in the area. Nobody should have to deal with so much negative energy and attitude just to simply make an appointment and order some contacts. This place is subpar at what they do AND have the audacity to be rude to their patients about it.

Poor Appointment Management We arrived at 2:32 for a 2:50 appointment and weren't called in until 3:20. Meanwhile, several patients who arrived after us were seen first. When we asked the receptionist, we were told they were "running behind," but that didn't explain why others with later appointments went in before us. The experience felt disorganized and frustrating. Clearer communication and respect for scheduled times are definitely needed.

If I could give zero stars I would. Twice I had appointments and twice I left after waiting too long. If you go there plan to spend the day and by no means have any other plans. They consistently overbook. No matter if you have the first appointment of the day, mid day or whatever. It's disrespectful to your patients thinking your time is more valuable than theirs. Won't be back and buyer beware. Fortunately they aren't the only game in town. Hopefully their manager reads this.
