Tried calling to reschedule my appointment. No one is answering the phone for the past hour now. This is ridiculous! Now they're gonna tru charging me a $50 "no show" fee because I couldn't cancel in time. I'm going to ask my doctor to refer me to a better office instead. My son had a two hour delay for school today due to all this bad weather, which means I can't make it in and couldn't call yesterday because of it! But no one answering the phones?? The last time I went in to you guys it took me 5 hours to complete my appointment too. I'll start going elsewhere.
I arrived ten minutes early for my 7:40 a.m. appointment but was not taken to an exam room until nearly 8:00. After a brief preliminary eye exam, the technician informed me they wanted to dilate my eyes. I declined because I needed to return to work shortly after the visit and had not been told in advance that dilation would be required.
Following the initial exam, I was placed in another waiting area with several other patients, where we waited approximately 30 more minutes before seeing the doctor. When the doctor came in, she asked for my current contact lens prescription. I provided the information to the best of my recollection, but she then asked whether I had brought the boxes because she needed the curvature measurements. If this information was necessary for the appointment, I believe it should have been communicated beforehand. She ultimately said she could not update my prescription because she did not know the correct measurements.
I was also told I would need to sign a waiver stating that I declined dilation and that my exam was therefore incomplete. If dilation is a standard requirement, patients should be notified in advance so they can plan accordingly. At this point it was 9:40, two hours after my scheduled appointment--which caused issues with my work schedule.
When I mentioned that my previous providers in Missouri always measured the strength and curvature of my eyes during the appointment, the doctor responded by asking, "Oh, you're from Missouri? How accurate is the show Ozark?" This felt unprofessional and inappropriate.
I ultimately chose to end the appointment and left without updated prescriptions for either contacts or glasses. Unfortunately, this was the most disorganized and unprofessional eye exam experience I have had. I will be returning to Target Optical, where appointments have consistently been efficient and professional.
It's hard to believe there are not more negative reviews. I regret making an appointment with Ophthalmic Consultants Of The Capital Region! Specifically with Dr. Jessica Wang.
My 10-year-old experienced sudden vision loss in one eye about two months ago. Being caring parents, we became concerned and want to know what caused this and how we should best address it.
However, Dr Wang refused to listen and decided it would be better to accuse the parents of not bringing her in years ago (again, this was a sudden onset, but Dr wang did not believe us) and downplay the condition instead of explaining the actual cause.
For all Dr Wang did, I could have gone to an optometrist at Vision Works. Overall, it was very clear that the staff cared less about the patient and more about selling glasses. Now, we will have to get a second opinion, so this has been an unfortunate waste of time, money, and resources.
Filled out online form to request an appointment.
No response
Called a few days later, figuring that might help.
Got a messaging service person despite calling during open hours. Said they would relay the info and appointment request to the Schodack office.
Again ---- NO reponse.
I'll go somewhere else. I guess I dodged a bullet judging from all the horrible reviews this place gets.
Absolutely awful experience here. My primary referred me to ophthalmology instead of my regular optometrist but they did all the same tests and barely listened to me regarding the problems I've been having. Dr was not interested in what was going on just checked my eyes and told me I was fine and if I'm concerned to see a neurologist instead.
The girl at check out was also super rude. I didn't have my insurance card so I had my husband take a photo and send it to me. She said she didn't need to see it. I said so do I have a copay? She said idk because I don't have your insurance card. I'm like I literally just tried to show you my insurance card and you said you didn't need to see it. Then she said "I don't need to see it." WELL IM CONFUSED. She then asked if I wanted to pay my copay... then had the audacity to act like I was being difficult.
On top of that there were so many patients waiting for a long time, I was there almost two hours. And you could hear other patients getting their tests done and the Drs and techs left the doors open for everyone's exams. It was really bizarre and uncomfortable.
Not sure I've ever felt less cared for at any Drs office.
This staff is amazing...especially Tye...and this other girl that comes from a different location to work here at desk..not sure of he name right now..but these workers go above and beyond...
Do not go to this practice. It is nothing but an assembly line of copay collections. It was by far the worst experience I have had at any medical practice. I was there for 2 hours and the doctor dismissed everything I said and gave me eyedrops. AVOID THIS PLACE!
I would give 0 starts if I could for the Schodack office. My mom, who is elderly and diabetic, had a 1pm appointment. She was finally seeing the doctor at 3pm. She was there for a DIABETIC eye exam. When I asked if it was normal for it to take so long, I was told...not very nicely...that they were fully booked and short staffed. I am a nurse and work in a surgical clinic. I understand being short staffed but waiting two hours with staff knowing you're diabetic is crazy. Staff was extremely unprofessional and rude, no apology, no concern, no offer to reschedule. While I was waiting for my mom at least one other patient walked out upset because of the wait.
On a side note, the Albany office was amazing and I will be taking my mom there in the future.
