I've been going to Marty at Glasswerk Optical for over ten years, and I truly can't recommend him highly enough! His kindness, attention to detail, and dedication to making sure I get the best possible glasses are unmatched. I have a very high prescription (>-12 with astigmatism), but despite this, I always leave with great glasses. Marty works with labs and frame supplies that can handle difficult prescriptions, so if you have complicated eyes, I would strongly recommend Glasswerk Optical! They also have great looking frames you won't find anywhere else!

I don't often submit reviews, but Glaswerk Optical certainly deserves recognition. While I've purchased frames and lenses from Marty for years and have always been pleased and impressed with his quality, workmanship, and attention to detail, I recently discovered what world-class customer service looks like. I damaged my glasses over the weekend and texted Marty very early on Monday morning asking if he could fit me in for a repair when the shop reopened opened on Tuesday. He responded within a few minutes and offered to meet me at his shop within the hour to my repair frames ON HIS DAY OFF! Needless to say, I will never be buying glasses anywhere else. Marty and his staff are not only knowledgeable but genuinely passionate about their business - and it shows in every customer interaction. I recommend Glaswerk Optical to anyone who values service that exceeds expectations.

I approached Marty at Glaswerk Optical to help me find appropriate eyewear for use in what is an unusual setting, an open cockpit vintage race car requiring the use of a full-face racing helmet. My regular frames were difficult to put on with the helmet in place and they did not stay secure on my face due to the bumps and vibrations I experienced while on track. I also needed lenses that were lightweight, impact resistant, worked well behind a Lexan face shield, could handle changing light conditions, and provided great peripheral vision characteristics. Marty not only helped me find the appropriate frames and lenses to address my needs, but he also took the time to ensure the prescription was optimized for my seating position as well as the location of my car's gauges. With the solution Glaswerk Optical provided, I have the confidence to race wheel-to-wheel with other drivers at high speeds. I can't thank Glaswerk Optical enough for the help.

Marty's professionalism and expertise in eyeware has made me a repeat customer for many years. I recently went in to try progressive lenses for a second time. My first experience with bifocals (many years ago) was not positive, so I was reluctant. Marty discussed recent advancements in progressive lens technologies, and I trusted him enough to give them another try. I couldn't be happier with my new lenses! My former optometrist in Ithaca recommended Glaswerk Optical years ago for more stylish contemporary options than what are available in my town. I absolutely love the excuse to drive to Corning every year or two for a new pair of frames and perhaps a visit to the CMOG. Of course I could shop online for a cheaper pair but there's nothing like getting to try frames on in person AND support a small business which we all know are few and far between these days. Marty is professional, genuinely personable and will offer an honest opinion when asked. Five stars!

I've had a fantastic eyeglass experience working with Glaswerk to get new spectacles. Modern technology, excellent collections of frames, and deeply knowledgeable/customer-oriented owner all combined to make Glaswerk Optical my preferred place to get my eyewear support. I am posting particularly to endorse "Drivewear Lenses," a new product to which Marty introduced me - more on that in a bit. But first let me endorse Marty. He is professional, knowledgeable, a problem solver, and all-around nice fellow. He stocks beautiful, stylish frames, and importantly, can put the lens that you actually need in them. That's what he did for me. My new Drivewear Transition Lenses are a problem solved for me. My old sunglass lenses were good, but with "one level" of lens color, they were sometimes too dark and sometimes not dark enough. They did not react to provide color contrast or reduce glare as light conditions vary. My new Drivewear Transition lenses move from a yellowish tint that brighten the surroundings in a low light, gray day, to a definite brown tint to handle glare in high sun conditions. I highly recommend Drivewear lenses and highly recommend Marty and the Glaswerk Optical team.
