Dr. Schear is one of the most friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine medical professionals that I've ever received care from. I've suffered from an unexpected ulcer in my right eye. However, Dr. Schear's knowledge and care assured me that everything would be fine. After months of healing, the ulcer was gone and my eye was back to normal. After time went by, I opted myself in to PRK in January. I cannot express how helpful and reassuring Dr. Schear was, including his assisting staff. Dr. Schear is capable, kind and very friendly and easy to deal with. His treatment of both my eyes via cataract surgery went smoothly and with results greater than expected. I chose to undergo PRK surgery in December of 2021 with Dr Schear and the experience was truly exceptional. The preoperative work up was thorough and communication was always very fast and efficient. The office even has the ability to text or email to relay questions to the Drs and reschedule appointments. My questions were always promptly answered and I was well educated by all the staff regarding the perioperative process. The excellent communication and monitoring continued through the procedure and for the duration of the recovery period after my PRK where I was excited to see my vision improve during the healing process. Almost 2.5 years later my vision remains 20/20 and I have no side effects from the procedure. Laser vision correction was truly life changing as someone who is active and struggled with contacts and glasses especially during the spring allergy season where i suffered severe eye discomfort since a young age. Also, as my vision coverage through work offers minimal reimbursement for frames, lenses and contacts, I have been saving a ton annually especially because I required use of daily contact lenses. Words can not describe how grateful I am for Dr. Schear and the dedicated staff at Hudson Valley Eye Surgeons.

Dr. Schear is extremely knowledgeable, skilled and has great bedside manner. He went over my options and due to my extreme dry eye condition ensured that I get the appropriate treatment before my surgery. I got PRK surgery and was in and out quickly. I am so glad I got corrective surgery but even more glad that Dr. Schear did the procedure - he is wonderful !

Dr. Schear and the team at Hudson Valley Eye Surgeons are incredible. They were all very informative, precise, accommodating, and most importantly, they truly care. I walked in with horrible eyesight that many eye surgeons would have deemed me ineligible for LASIK; however, Dr. Schear did not turn me away. I was put on a successful treatment plan, and retested for eligibility. His attention to detail, accuracy, and drive for perfection was more than I could ever ask for. I am extremely thankful and delighted to say that I am sitting here, three months post-op, with 20/15 vision. Remarkable!

Great environment from the start, everyone at the desk to the doctors, just everyone there was nice and hard workers. My eye doctor Matthew Schear worked hard with all his staff to do a great job and made sure that I was safe and would have great vision like I do right now. Strongly suggest anyone who wants to get a lasic eye surgery what ever one you prefer PRK or lasic eye surgery to choose doctor Schear ! Great and respectful doctor !
