I will start with the positives, which is they have great prices and selection. Their sister store, iLook, has the same selection but much friendlier staff. Now let me move on to the negatives, of which there are a lot:
1. The boss is a rude little man. He sits at the front and helps you adjust your glasses, but he's rude and full of himself. He mocks you and laughs at you while he helps you.
2. I have given this place an insane amount of business. 5 pairs of glasses in 2 years. They don't have the courtesy to answer my emails, texts, nor calls to ask where my order is, which was placed 45 days ago, and have received no word.
3. The culture in here is just miserable. The employees are knowledgeable but look miserable. The optometry service (I only saw one optometrist, I think Vivian) they offer is the most barebones of any even glasses store, just checking the box of requirements.
Anyway, their location is fantastic and the selection is truly great, plus they can order stuff for you. Just expect shitty service.
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Eye Solutions in Flushing, Queens.
I have been going to this store for several months and previously had two pairs of lenses made using my own frames. Those orders were completed in about a week and a half, and everything went smoothly. Unfortunately, my two most recent orders were handled very differently, and the level of professionalism and communication dropped significantly.
I dropped off my glasses on January 23rd and was told they would be ready by February 4th. When I called to check on the status, I was told the lenses were on backorder and that I should call again on February 11th. The following week, I tried calling multiple times and no one answered. There was no notice that the store would be closed for Lunar New Year for the entire week, and no proactive communication about the delay.
I paid $400 for prescribed lenses with PhotoFusion and DuraVision Platinum anti-glare. When I asked about any form of discount due to the delays, I was told they do not offer discounts because it is "not their policy," yet no policy was ever clearly explained to me. I was repeatedly told the situation was "out of their hands" due to shipment issues. Today, I was informed I would now have to wait until March 10th to receive my lenses meaning my order was delayed three times.
Additionally, one of the employees, Hao Z, told me they could not accept my Cigna Vision insurance for lenses only and that it had to be combined with both frame and lens. After reviewing my insurance benefits directly with my provider, this is not accurate. My benefits clearly state they can be applied to lenses only. This was very concerning and felt misleading.
This business is extremely unorganized. Customers are forced to constantly call for updates because they do not reach out when orders are delayed or ready. After multiple delays and poor communication, I went in person to retrieve my glasses and demanded a refund.
They have lost a customer. I will not be returning and would not recommend this store based on my recent experience. Their whole attitude changes when you ask for a discount or have an issue with your order. As a minority, I will never step foot in this store again.
wow super attentive and great service. they went above and beyond w the free snacks and drinks here they got chips and soda and hot coffee machine. this in flushing is bonus: they decorated for halloween
Their attitude before and after the sale was totally different. I've been getting my glasses here for three years in a row, always spending a few hundred dollars each time. But this time, after I picked up my new pair, I felt dizzy wearing them, so I went back to ask about switching back to my previous prescription (they said within 30 days I could come back if there were any issues). They did change the lenses, but their attitude was completely different--like I was some kind of freeloader. I probably won't come back here again.
The place itself is beautiful and ornate, the selection of glasses is top notch, there is a wide assortment for all price ranges. The customer service is amazing, they always greet you with a positive attitude! Ask for Morris he's a great guy!
Also they provide a wide selection of FREE snacks to munch on while you wait for your glasses. What a customer experience!
EDIT 9/26/18:
I came back in because the frames I bought from them cracked on the side. They were very apologetic about it and were able to place an order from another Eye Solutions location for the exact same frame. The cost for all this? Absolutely nothing. The best customer service I've ever experienced.
I had a fantastic experience at Eye Solutions on Main Street in Flushing! I stopped by to see if they could help with a minor issue--my glasses' nose pads needed to be replaced, and the frames were slightly out of alignment. To my surprise, they not only replaced the nose pads for free, but also carefully adjusted the fit so my glasses sit perfectly again. The staff was professional, friendly, and super efficient.
Usually a 4 star (Ive been here the past three years), but most recent visit was a bit odd. New hires (?) do not know how to charge my fsa card as a credit card (a manager figured it out). Also asked if my glasses needed adjusting at pick up. I can't think of any person who wouldn't need glasses adjusted properly to sit on their face from the get-go. I will say opticians are 5 star.
I would say the service was borderline okay, but definitely not excellent. For example, today on 06/25/25 at approximately 4pm. One major error I caught upon walking in was that Dr. Wei/weijin did not introduce herself to me, which I found to be quite awkward as she has a doctorate degree, but lacked basic social skills. She gave instructions clearly, but was not polite about it. For instance, she did not say "please" when giving directions, so she wound up giving me orders and commands like I am working for her, so that did not set a good impression in my eyes. For example, when she said, "don't blink! Put your head forward!" Is actually quite bossy and rude. I just got out of work and I don't need to be put back to work. It would be helpful if she would use softeners and be polite about it. It's not what you say, but how you say it, it's the delivery that matters. Furthermore, a male optician with glasses surnamed Wu (Wu) gave me an attitude when I requested if he could assist me with finding a frame that looks similar to my old glasses, he made a snarky remark to me in Mandarin, "TSK, WE DON'T HAVE SUCH FRAMES, OK?" as an expression of annoyance when stating there is no such frames available like the old one I got from this store, I was not comfortable with this type of demeanor. He later gave me a mean look a couple of times when asking me questions about my optical history and then later interrogated me after I asked if I can get a record of my old glasses prescription. It was my right to have a copy of my vision history. So, that was uncalled for. Overall, I did not give a one star because the snacks were good. But other than that, their overall people service needed some work. I haven't been treated like this over here ever since the pandemic. So, I may rethink carefully about whether to come back here again.
