AVOID THIS EYE CENTER AT ALL COSTS--AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! I've had the misfortune of visiting Dr. Hirshfield at this so-called "clinic" three times, and it's been a maddening descent from bad to utterly deplorable. My first visit was an emergency due to an eye injury. The doctor begrudgingly squeezed me in, tossed some antibiotics my way, and shuffled me out the door. I was grateful at the time--foolishly so, as it turns out, because that was the only semi-decent experience I'd get. The follow-up visits have been an unmitigated disaster, exposing this place for the chaotic, disrespectful sham it truly is. Take my most recent appointment: scheduled for 11:45 a.m., with instructions to arrive 15 minutes early. I complied, only to be left rotting in the waiting room for over 30 minutes before a cursory 5-minute exam. Then, they dumped me into a second, even more purgatorial "inner waiting room" with no end in sight. I watched in disbelief as 10 people who arrived after me were seen and sent on their way while I sat there, ignored. The staff? Beyond atrocious--snarling, dismissive, and utterly devoid of basic human decency. Not once did they bother to offer an update, an apology, or even a shred of courtesy. A simple "You'll be seen soon" would've been something, but apparently, that's too much to expect from this wretched crew. Dr. Hirshfield himself is a disgrace--arrogant, incompetent, and seemingly incapable of diagnosing anything beyond his own inflated ego. He's dragged me back for follow-ups with no solutions, no answers, and no care, just a vague wave to return and waste more of my time. Today, after enduring yet another endless wait, I dared to ask the staff how much longer I'd be stuck there. Their response? A barked "Sit down and wait," delivered with all the charm of a prison warden. No information, no respect--just contempt. This place isn't just unprofessional; it's a black hole of misery that will suck away your time, your patience, and your faith in healthcare. Do yourself a favor: steer clear and find a doctor who isn't a walking red flag. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hirshfield for about maybe 12 years and I think he is excellent anytime someone have a high problem or they need an eye doctor. I recommend him he has done both of my cataract surgeries. He has also a retina specialist in the office. That is awesome. Dr Hirshfield has been my eye Dr for many years. He is competent, professional and friendly. I recently had cataract surgery and was happy with my results.His office staff is pleasant and knowledgeable.

Dr Hirshfield is experienced and gives details how he is treating. The Nurses all are very nice and knowledgeable. The wait time is reasonable. My only complaint is about the front desk receptionist. Perhaps, she was in bad mood that day When I walked up to her desk. She asked if it was an emergency. I said I called 2 days ago and was given an appointment for 10:45 AM. She ignored it but asked me to explain why I came ? I explained why I had to see the doctor. I am just curious if she was instructed to screen patient even with an appointment. I told her that when I called for appointment, I gave details of medical complaints and asked she should not tell me she did not see the record of my appointment. Then quiet. She did not say anything nor told me to wait. When the next patient came to her, she just told the patient to take a seat and wait. IT WAS RUDE. If I am not mistaken, her name is Katherine. She did not hurt me but damages the clinic image. Everybody makes mistakes, let us give her a chance.

Dr Hirshfield is good, but the workflow in office horrible. unless you have 1st appointment of the day, the waiting just to be called in would be at least 2 hours. then you spend an other 1.5-2 hours inside going form on exam room to an other, waiting, waiting in inside waiting area, waiting outside waiting room. they have a lot of staff there, but its not organized, would take you at least an our to register at front desk. It should not take 4 hours for regular check up exam. We are going there for several years for annual check up, and its getting worse and worse every year . ending up, they "lost" my mother's file (???) and we had to start from beginning again. And now to make appointment, takes like 15 min on phone , the representative who doesn't know office hours, and asking 100 times : are you a new patient?" Again, Dr Hirshfield is great, but the staff are destroying everything.

I had a tear duct infection. First Visit: waited for one hour to see an incompetent assistant that could not explain anything properly. The doctor said i needed antibiotics and another appointment. If the condition did not improve in 2 days then he would need to drain the abscess. The doctor was nice but didn't know which medicine to prescribe.Waited another half hour for the prescription. They messed up the prescription and had to call it in again. Second visit: waited for over two hours and it would have been longer if the lady before me had not left in frustration. Many patients with later appointment went before me. Finally I saw an assistant who was more competent and informed me that the doctor would go through with the procedure - even though he didn't come to see if it was doing better. Then i waited for another half hour. hen i was brought into a room and put in a reclined chair with my head back. The assistant said he would be right in so i should wait like that. After 20 mins the blood was rushing to my head and i was very uncomfortable. I left the office in frustration. I called the office IMMEDIATELY after and they would not let me speak to the doctor. They said he had left for the day, which is impossible because there were still patients there when i left and he was about to see me for a procedure. DON'T USE THIS OVERBOOKED MONEYHUNGRY DOCTOR WITH TERRIBLE ASSISTANTS!

I read the reviews here and I am very surprised. Dr. Hirshfield has been taking care of everyone in my family for many years. He has done surgery for cataracts on my parents and even prescribed glasses and contacts. Everyone in the office is always so professional and the doctor is kind and excellent and explains everyhting. He also has the very best reputation in the communcity and my internist says he is the best and refers all his patients. I think those other reviews are lies or the doctor was having a very bad day.

They have no disregard for their patients time. I was told to be there for an appointment at 7:30am and I was there on time. At 7:45am I asked the receptionist at what time I would be seen and she could not tell me when I would be seen since the ophtamologist was not there yet. I asked when he was expected to be there and again they did not know. I asked if I was the first person to be seen, given that I was there so early, and they told me there were several people in front of me. I told them I needed to go back to work and needed to have an idea of when I could expect to see the ophtamologist. I finally had enough of their games and told them to cancel the appointment and give all my records. I will never go back to a place where they act like your time is not worth it.
