I was referred here by my wonderfully compassionate eye dr...Dr. Dolbie at Bay Optical...felt like a number rather than a person ...was scared... Dr Rheman may be a great dr but he never introduced himself or asked me one question ...just began an aggressive exam...I don't recommend this practice if you have even a glimpse of anxiety...got a curt letter today dropping me from practice...I called them 2 months ago and said I am returning to my regular eye dr as no neurological findings ...bizarre to me to receive this letter...clearly someone did not communicate my call. These drs need training in compassion and treating patients like human beings rather than a number in line

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in a doctor's office. The office and bathrooms are dirty. The staff let things fall through the cracks (double-booked patient appointments, taking six weeks to follow up about referrals). I observed several HIPAA violations while there. For example, staff literally shouted patient information across the office and a doctor entered my exam room and immediately began spouting off another patient's information. Then they revealed that they accepted my optician's referral despite not having the equipment or specialization to evaluate the issue for which I'd been referred. I received no care but was still charged $400 for the "consultation." Now, several weeks later, I am still waiting to be referred to a doctor to evaluate a possible ocular tumor.

Dr Charles Rheeman is an excellent dr. He is very thorough and explains everything to the patient. I have recommended him numerous times to friends. If I ever have need of a neuro ophthalmologist Dr Rheeman is who I would go see.

Infuriated by the care and service received here. After Dr. Rheeman laughing and telling me I shouldnt even be there, only to later get diagnosed by another doctor, I was sent a $500 bill. I called and was rudely told I was not covered. I contacted my insurance company who said I was covered. I Called the office and was told they would take care of it. I received another $500 bill. I called back to be told, again, I was not covered. I informed them that my insurance company assured me I was. They checked again and said oh looks like you are covered, we will take care of it. Once more, I get a $500 bill, and am forced to continue the madness. I was rudely told they would call my insurance company and look into it. After a month or so I get called by a collection agency. I explained the situation to them and they said they'd call the office. I didn't hear back for a few weeks until I got another call to collect the debt of now $180, the uninsured rate. I called the office AGAIN, and was VERY rduely told I was not covered. I explained that I have called my insurance more than once and they said without a doubt I was. Dr. Rheeman's staff continued to talk down to me telling me how wrong I was and that they had a letter from my insurance stating I was not covered. Almost in tears, I reached out to my insurance company, for what felt like the 100th time, and explained the situation. They checked and said there is no way I was not covered and said they would call Dr.Rheeman's office riht away, to straighten it out. Dr. Rheeman's office missed a number. They never tried to look into it, rerun or fix the mistake and never had a letter stating I wasn't covered. Their mistake and refusal to do their job, almost tanked my credit and cost me $500. I can not believe how incredibly rude and unprofessional they were. MONTHS of hassle and stress that could have been avoided. They were at fault and no matter what I did, they would not listen and kept insisting I was wrong. After all of that no apology was given. If I can make one recommendation to those seeking care, it would be to look elsewhere.

Dr Rheeman is a VERY kind and attentive doctor. If you have concerns and need additional testing he will notify you immediately after he receives the results, even at night or on the weekend. You will not have to stress over the unknown. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. HIGHLY.

Dr. Rheeman saved my life about 10 years after I had a stroke at age 37. He said "Men your age shouldn't have strokes. I'm ordering some blood tests to get to the bottom of this." Sure enough, the tests revealed I had a very rare disorder which causes strokes, and (!) which is easily treated. No strokes since then and that was 20 yr ago. Dr. R is special: brilliant, humble and compassionate. What more could anyone say?
