The team is great but I don't understand how an eye appt can make you wait 2 hrs to be seen. I thought the reason for appts was so you're seen as close as possible to that time. A follow up eye appt post surgery should not take over two hrs to even be seen. I understand consultations and primary visits taking long. The team is great but I'm loathe to recommend to anyone without warning them to set aside their entire morning or afternoon to be seen.
Two reasons I cannot recommend this place:
Firstly, no one will answer your phone calls and you'll be redirected to the general OCLI call center, even if you are in need of an emergency.
Secondly, they have a very rude nurse on staff who essentially told me I should just go blind instead of getting proper treatment for my eyes. I understand neural optometry is different from seeing an optometrist, but that level of rudeness is inexcusable, unhelpful, and downright disgusting. When I was there in person yesterday, this same nurse was telling off stroke victims. Very unprofessional, which ruins the professionalism of the rest of the staff and the doctor.
Dr. Scott Ubretzky is fenomenal! He is working very hard on my case which is not a common one. I was highly recommended by couple of doctors and a hospital to see him. For several months he is sending me to tests, makes my life easier and I am feeling safe following his medical advice. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The office in NHP is also amazing.
The doctor was very unprofessional, condescending and shows a lack of care or respect for his patience. I even had another patients daughter follow me out of the office to insure I was ok as she overheard how the the doctor had spoke to me and was concerned for my well-being and her mothers. After the appointment I received a survey and completed it and got a response back that someone would be reaching out. No surprise they never reached out. I wish I could leave zero stars for this review
I wanted to give the office a chance regardless of the reviews. But the reviews I have read seem to match my experience. Although, the front desk and person assisting the doctor were great and very friendly. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Uretsky as this office took my insurance. I have had a an online consultation with another doctor who suspects I have BVD-vertical heterophoria. I was hoping to get prescribed prisms. Before scheduling my appointment I asked the receptionist if this doctor was familiar with BVD, specifically vertical heterophoria. She said yes so I proceeded. When it was time for my appointment the doctor asked me to explain why I was there. I started explaining that I consulted with someone and what they suspected. Immediately he says that he doesn't believe in BVD and he doesn't even know what vertical heterophoria is. I tried explaining some of my symptoms and I guess I said dizzy too much and he told me to stop saying the word dizzy. He kept cutting me off and wouldn't let me explain my symptoms so I never finished giving him the information. It was upsetting. I was shaking in the chair trying to hold myself together as this doctor made me feel invalidated as a patient and treated me as if my symptoms are made up. After testing he said I have possibly "some sort of" convergence insufficiency and "some sort of" vertigo and that he doesn't think either of these diagnosis explain my main symptoms. Those words didn't sound confident. He did say sorry he doesn't know what BVD or vertical heterophoria are that he didn't learn that in school. So it just sounded like he was unwilling to educate himself on the topic or refer me to someone who might know more than him on this topic. I was told to come back in 6 months after doing pencil push up exercises...but I don't think I will be coming back.
Would leave negative stars if I could. In October of 2022, I developed severe, debilitating eye pain. I could not even keep my eye open. My ophthalmologist recommended Dr. Scott Uretsky after examination and a CT scan of my eye - he believes it was nerve related. My ophthalmologist and I have called every week for an earlier appointment from October (they gave me December 15th), but every time the reception was very harsh and cruel and would not even look through the schedule to see if anything could be arranged for earlier. I understand how doctors are very booked, or do not work every day in the office as I work at a doctor's office as well. However, I would NEVER let a patient who is suffering wait that long..I would see what i can do including talking to the Dr. They told me the appointment would be FOUR hours...which is fine, but I sacrificed a day's pay. Once I get to the office on December 15th, Dr. Uretsky wanted to dilate my eye...I was hesitant (because I have anxiety, so I declined)..within that minute of declining I changed my mind because I know and understand how important it is...after I said, "ok I'll have my eye dilated" and my husband agreed with me, Dr. Uretsky said very nasty and abruptly, and I quote verbatim, "Too late my friend, appointment's over." - in an angry tone. How do you not have time to dilate me when I was advised the appointment would be four hours? And even not, I did not even waste any of his time. I quickly changed my mind. He then slammed his papers on his desk and stormed out. I started immediately crying, and I believe the office manager (i am not sure which staff) was very sympathetic and tried to CONVINCE Dr. Uretsky to dilate my eye again, which he agreed a half hour later..but by then it was too late..his assistant gave me a nasty lecture on how I need to listen to doctors and follow instructions...again verbatim...very very mean...I have congenital heart disease, please be advised that I follow medical orders, and understand how appointments work. It was a mortifying experience, and I am very sad as I still experience pain. I am very disappointed in my care, and I wish people in health care, not just the doctor, had more empathy. No one wants to be at the doctors..this whole experience was disheartening and unnecessary.
I believe the male doctors should go for sensitivity and interpersonal training. They are completely misogynistic and speak to women in dismissive and insulting manner.
Dr. Uretsky and his staff were all wonderful! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back.
