Empire Visionworks Niskayuna

The staff is friendly and very helpful. I was seen to get transition glasses and the waiting time was minimal. From the receptionist to the guy who helped me with my glasses were awesome. I've been going here for years and I've never been let down once. If you never went here before I highly recommend coming here for your glasses.

I originally intended on leaving a positive review, as my experience here was good up until the very end. I have worn contacts for 17 years and have never had to pay out of pocket for my annual eye exam. Unfortunately, my long-time eye doctor recently retired, and I urgently needed contacts. My new provider couldn't get me in until late February, so when I saw Visionworks had quick availability, I decided to give it a try. At no point was I informed that a contact lens exam would cost $80. In fact, when I was being brought to the back, I specifically asked if I would have to pay anything out of pocket and was told no by the person who I later found out was the manager. I was very clear and asked multiple questions about pricing because businesses like this often get you in the chair and then surprise you with a bill afterward. The exam itself went fine. However, when it came time to purchase my contacts, I was suddenly told there was an exam fee that--after insurance--came to $68. I was understandably upset, as had I known this beforehand, I would have waited to go to a private practice. I expressed this to the associate helping me, who was very kind, explained everything thoroughly, and said she would speak with the manager about the misinformation. That conversation is where the experience went from disappointing to unacceptable. The manager, Megan, the same person who told me I would not have to pay out of pocket, came out and immediately took a defensive and confrontational tone, saying, "I definitely told you about the exam fee. It's not my fault you didn't hear me." This was extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and completely inappropriate for a patient-facing role. I work in the medical field, and this is not how you handle patient concerns or complaints. If someone is asking numerous questions about pricing, they are not going to "miss" an $80 exam fee. The interaction showed a complete lack of accountability and training. I would not recommend this location. It is clearly profit-driven, relies on unclear pricing, and the manager's behavior was rude and dismissive. Transparency and basic professionalism go a long way and unfortunately, this location lacks both.

My appointment was at three and they called me in right at three. The doctor was very professional. Listen to what I had to say and just was excellent at what she did the lady who helped me pick out. My frames was wonderful as well.

I Haven't been to the eye doctors in years.. But this place was easy to schedule an appointment and got me right in, i have to say they are wonderful here compared to others ive been to in the past, The staff are very helpful and caring and definitely gonna go back to them

I had an appt there at 3:30. Confirmed it, took off work, went there early and the office was closed. Listed hours from 9-3pm on the door. No phone call, email or anything to cancel my appt. Seemed like a planned closure, not emergency. They have AI handling all there calls so should have gotten a robo call or text. Proceed with caution making an appt at Balltown Rd in Niskayuna. You could confirm and then the office is closed when you get there.

This is my second visit in a year to Visionworks. I have to tell you I am so impressed with their staff. They're friendly, personable , and the doctor as well. Christina waited on me, and I am very happy to have found her again--- because I met her many years ago and just love the way she made it all happen . She probably is the best. Also Nancy is a very loving person and nice person and greets everyone when they come in the door:; this place is very impressive and I am very satisfied with going to vision works! I wish I went to them years ago !

Came in to pick up my glasses and left with my face hurting from laughing so much. Iesha was such a pleasure and made might night. I love coming to this location because everyone is so nice.

The ladies that work here are amazing, they make you feel welcomed immediately. It does take some time to be seen, but that happens everywhere now. Thank you again
