I have so far had a great experience with Site MD and Dr Mauro in particular. I had cataracts removed yesterday morning it was fast and no problems at all! I was so happy when I went home and I sat down. The TV was on and I looked at it and I could see everything on the TV and read the words! I've been wearing glasses since I was nine.! I'm very impressed everybody there seems to care. They're all really nice. I definitely recommend them.
Met Dr. Mauro for the first time and was very impressed with the answers provided regarding cataract surgery. He listened, and was supportive of any decisions I would make in the future regarding my cataract procedure. I was encouraged to hear that I would be able to continue activities after surgery that are important to me. He gave me peace of mind.
From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, professional, and efficient. Dr. Mauro was incredibly thorough, took the time to explain everything clearly, and made sure all of my questions were answered without feeling rushed. The office was clean, and well-organized. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for outstanding eye care.
I am very appreciated with Dr. John Mauro. He took care my both eyes cataract surgery and followed up after the surgery.
After that surgery it is like my whole world changed. I started to read books even with fine fonts without eyeglasses.I recommend all my friends to go to Dr Mauro.
Thank you Dr Mauro.
All staff is kind and helpful. Dr. Mauro who i have seen for at least 7 years, is kind and patient in explaining what is going on with my eyes and offers different solutions and kindly works with my anxiety. Wouldn't feel comfortable with another doctor. (Although I hear all doctors are excellent here!)
I'm writing this review with clear vision and no pain! What a gift Dr. Mauro is-from initial consult to first post--op appointment, I am thrilled with my decision to use him for LASIK! Don't hesitate to make that first consultation-you will feel at ease and confident in who you are choosing.
I recently had Lasik with Dr. John Mauro and he was honestly amazing. At my consultation, he was so kind and immediately made me feel calmer. I get very nervous with doctors and anything involving surgery, but he explained everything clearly and checked my eyes thoroughly to make sure I was actually a good candidate. My sister's friend recommended him and had such a great experience, which is one of the reasons I chose him.
I also got another opinion at TLC in Garden City. They were nice, but you don't meet the doctor until the day of the surgery, which really surprised me. At Smithtown, I was able to meet Dr. Mauro right at the consultation, and that made me feel so much more comfortable. You can tell Smithtown is a lot more conservative and careful. Dr. Mauro told me I needed to be out of my contacts for two weeks before surgery so my eyes could return to their natural shape. TLC told me only two days, which made me question things. He also has you come in the night before to dilate your eyes and check everything one last time, and TLC said they don't do that.
Overall, I loved my experience with Dr. Mauro. He genuinely cares about his patients and even has a good sense of humor that helps calm your nerves. He met both of my parents too, and they really liked him.
On the day of the surgery, I was extremely nervous. They do offer a Valium if you want it, which I took, and it definitely helped. The procedure was so quick, maybe five minutes. They clean your eyes, give you numbing drops, and Dr. Mauro is right there with you the entire time. They give you stress balls in a dark room and he talks you through everything. You barely feel anything, just a little pressure, and if you're used to touching your eyes because of contacts, it's really nothing. You look at a green light throughout the procedure. You do smell a little burning, but it's not bad and it's over fast. I could actually see right away when it was done.
The first day my eyes burned for a few hours, but it wasn't terrible. You mostly just want to keep your eyes closed and sleep. For the next few days I had a feeling like something was in my eye here and there, but it was manageable. I'm now one week post-op and my eyes feel great. I'm so happy I did it and I truly recommend Dr. Mauro!
I had an emergency concerning my eye and had to go to the emergency room. They recommended that I see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible, Dr Mauro not only fit me into his schedule at 7:15 am the next morning, but when I got there His office from the Front desk to every tech to Dr. Mauro, were wonderful. I was stressed about the situation and they eased my fears and accurately diagnosed what was wrong. They sent me to a specialist,, who I have since seen and am on the road to recovery with a plan to get there. Thank you to Sight MD and to everyone that helped me.
