Always pleased with the very professional staff at Upchurch Optical. I am very sensitive to new glasses and everyone here is well trained in adjusting glasses to be comfortable and they take the time to do it. Great frame selection, probably the best of any optical store I have been in. They even adjusted glasses I had gotten at Costco that were never fit correctly.

I have visited Upchurch Optical on North Roxboro Street dozens of times over the past seven years. The office manager is efficient, helpful, professional, and personable. The optometrist is unfailingly kind to all patients, and is especially considerate of young people who have differing mental or physical abilities or who are not yet fluent English speakers. Mike Upchurch and his expert team of opticians are knowledgeable, expeditious, friendly, and generous. There are not enough adjectives in the thesaurus or stars in the sky to adequately describe the superior level of service at Upchurch Optical.

This is the best private optician in Durham. I have been in glasses for 47 years and never thought much about who filled my prescription, until I needed progressives. Upchurch knows how to fit progressives better than anyone I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot of opticians. Also, if they do make a mistake, my experience has been that they are quick to own it and fix it. Unlike a lot of optical offices owned by doctors, they do not do an aggressive upsell on frames... but they do have the best selection in town for frames.

Mike and his staff makes suggestions that you would never consider in both style and color. This is a group that really knows their product. I drive for two hours and consider it time well invested. Absolutely amazing service! When all seemed lost after my dog chewed up my only pair of glasses (and I was leaving for a very important trip the next morning), Upchurch Optical came to the rescue! Even though they were close to closing, I was immediately helped and they even stayed late to get me fitted for a new pair (and an updated set of lenses)! I am beyond impressed and highly recommend them!
