Honestly amazing experience from beginning to end. I called on a Monday to get an appointment as a new patient, and they squeezed me in 2 days later. The eye exam tech/assistant was SO kind and the Doctor Hoye was so thorough and didn't make the process scary at all. And then, to getting the glasses after my exam, the woman I worked with was so helpful and really helped me with my decision on what frame to choose, and was honest about my lense thickness, prices, etc., so happy I found this place!!
Bought my first pair of glasses from them 5 years ago, and in that time they never had to be tightened or repaired. The glasses finally snapped in half last week, but the prescription lenses remained in tact. Took them in to be looked at and explained how much I'd loved these glasses, and that I'd recently lost my vision insurance and was worried about being able to afford new ones. They offered to see if my old lenses would fit a pair of used, donated frames they had, and as luck would have it, they did! They literally Frankensteined a pair of glasses for me using my old lenses, a donated frame, and even the arms of my old glasses (which I'd mentioned how much I loved for their comfort and durability). Even better: they did it free of charge! While that was amazing, I was more impressed at the kindness, willingness to help me, and the resourcefulness of this team. 100% recommend!
Last year we switched to Johnson and our appointments, the service was great. This year we got our notices in mail to make an appointment. I stopped by the clinic in person to make our appointments. And was told "There are no appointments available this year"... they could put us on a waiting list if someone canceled their appointment. Shocked, I confirmed, yes all year!
They took us on as patients and we expected to have annual checkups and services. Not going to happen apparently. For a doctor's office to have so little regard for their patients is just terrible. It wasn't our insurance or some such conflict. They apparently just took on too many patients.
So if you are looking for a new optometrist, look elsewhere. And if they do take you, you could be out of luck next time you need them.
We had to take our son here to get his first pair of glasses. The place is definitely bigger than any Opthalmologist I have been too. I don't think you will get a personal touch here as you would with a smaller office, but nonetheless the staff was friendly and helpful in getting my son his first pair of glasses.
Update 6/7/25
I had originally given them 5 stars because of how good our initial service was in early April. It is now June and my son still doesn't have his glasses. Luckily, I had his prescription and was able to order him pairs online that came in a matter of days.
I have nothing but respect for Johnson Optometrics . My appointments have always been timely and comforting.Dr. Martin and his staff have treated me and my wife very courteous and kind. I would recommend Johnson Optemetrics and associates to any one who needs to see a eye doctor. Theirtime is valuable to them and their patients, it might take more time with one patient than another. I cannot anyone complaining about service . John Stapleton
After trying 3 different Optometrists over the last 5 years I finally listened to my wife and set an appointment. I was very pleased with my experience! Dr. Andrew R. May was friendly and took time to explain everything. Everyone I interacted with was extremely nice and professional. I look forward to my next appointment.
Outstanding practice with optometrist who genuinely care and provide quality exams and recommendations. Dr. May saved my eye by finding a retinal detachment years ago and referring me to NC retinal specialist for treatment. Years later I have had no change in my vision and all remains constant. Thank you isn't enough for his prompt action, friendship, and professional opinion. I'm confident in saying the experience and quality are unmatched. Highly recommend!
Yesterday I had my first examine since Dr. Hammond retired. He told me he was leaving me in good hands. Boy, was he right! Dr. Clinard was not only through but also thoughtful. I have a little situation with one of my retinas and she was all over it. She established a care plan and made me feel at ease. So, my long relationship with Johnson Optometric continues in great fashion. From the front office to the staff doing the examines you are treated so kindly.
