Dr. Luke Fullenkamp Optometrist

I recently took a family member to Eyemart Tri-County/Springdale location. Staff members were wonderful, very kind, efficient, and did a great job with vision test machines. Unfortunately, the experience with optometrist Dr. Fullenkamp was beyond disappointing. We were in the exam room for approximately 30 minutes, but the vast majority of that time was spent watching him work on computer rather than performing an actual eye exam. The exam itself literally lasted less than one minute with just four clicks of the ophthalmoscope and reading a few letters from vision board before it was over. The resulting prescription turned out to be inaccurate which we confirmed after scheduling a second eye exam elsewhere. I truly appreciate the staff's professionalism, but based on this experience, I would not recommend scheduling an eye exam with this provider. Save your time and money and consider a different optometrist. His office was also quite dirty, cluttered surfaces with piles of mail/papers, cobwebs in corners and floors that needed to be cleaned. I'd give zero stars if it were an option.

This optometrist is the worst doctor I've ever had the experience of meeting; he is hostile, unprofessional, and pretentious. I took my elder mother to EyeMart to pick out frames today, she had previously gotten a half assed eye exam from Dr. Fullenkamp. We received the new prescription and she couldn't see anything clearly. The blur was so bad that she couldn't use either the bi-focal lens or the distance. We stayed for a bit to see if her eyes would adjust to the new prescription but it was too blurry, so they offered us to see the doctor again. My mother asked me to go back in the room with her, as she didn't have a good feeling from her previous experience. Immediately after entering the room, he was annoyed. He said what exactly do you need? We told him that her new prescription was too blurry and she couldn't adjust to it. He immediately copped an attitude with her, told her that her prescription changed a lot over 7 years (which we understand, but she should be able to at least slightly see with her new prescription). I was looking at the difference between her old prescription and her new prescription, which he pulled up on the computer and pointed to when speaking to her, and he started screaming at me. He screamed why are you even in here, you need to get back. So I moved back toward the wall, out of the way, there was only 1 extra chair in the room and he had his jacket or shirt draped on it, so I didn't want to sit there. At that moment he screamed at us, at one point he started approaching me (still standing against the wall) and screaming at me. He screamed at me to go sit in the chair, I asked what was going on, why was he yelling, told him to calm down. I sat down and he started berating my mom for having the audacity to ask questions about her care and to come to request to meet with him. We were in his office for no more than 2 mins, the screaming started almost immediately. We couldn't get a word in over him yelling. He then refused service and kicked us out. My mom said fine but I want everything refunded, I will use my insurance on a real eye exam. He told my mom that she would not be getting an insurance refund, as she didn't submit, although she did. We told the staff of eyemart about the unprovoked verbal attack on my mother and I, the refusal for service, and kicking us out. All because I went into the room to advocate for my mother because she felt like he was not doing the proper job. They were shocked by this, as we worked with eyemart most of our time there and there was zero problem. A couple associates and clients did mention that Dr. Fullenkamp does have a reputation for being rude and difficult. We understand now. The girls that work for Dr. Fullenkamp are great and deserve better. I will be reporting Dr Fullenkamp to the BBB and State of Ohio Medical Board. This for his unprofessionalism, predatory behavior toward older people, verbal assault, unprovoked hostility, and for not conducting a proper eye exam. I have never in my life been spoken to in such an evil manner. A doctor is expected to do much, much better. It's very easy to correct an issue, but his behavior was unacceptable. I would recommend avoiding this doctor at all cost, you will not receive decent medical care and you will be met with hostility and unprofessional care.

I have been going to this place a few years, the exams are fine, the girls working the machine do all the work and then the doc just verifies, it seems. but whatever its fine. But my problem came when I wanted my glasses prescription which are good for 2 years, given my age and health. Please tell me why it took 16 phone calls and 2 emails to get them to send me a copy of my Rx.

I have seen Dr. Fullenkamp for years now. I am always impressed with his exam thoroughness and he has a good sense of humor.

Top notch eye care! Attentive staff who do all they can to make your visit worth your time. Dr. Fullenkamp is the best at helping you find the best solution for your eye care needs. I can't recommend enough!

He is the best there is, loves his craft and has exceptional people/ communication skills across race and creed I recommend him ALL THEE TIME!!!!

They stole 88 dollars from me i went back 3 times and never got my eye exam right and they refused to refund me they are crooks and very rude!! I had to go to america's best and they did great don't trust Dr Luke!!
