Dr. Hutchins hasn't been my ophthalmologist very long, but he made it clear from my first visit that he is taking care of my eyes. His methods are effective and efficient. I feel at ease with him, even when he's giving me an injection in my eye.

Dr. Hutchins seems to be a very knowledgeable person. However, he is a bit terse and often treated me like I was a table or a chair rather than a person. I would not recommend him as he did not listen to me, and I had a reaction to the drops they use for dilation. The dilation left me with red scratchy eyes, a sinus headache and a regular headache behind my eyes. I will never go back to see this gentleman. I most likely will never go back to Cincinnati Eye Institute.

I had a great experience from the moment I walked in the door! Everyone there is professional, helpful and thoughtful. There was a Fellowship Resident there for my appointment. They asked my permission for him to examine my eyes. I said of course. He was very professional and had a wonderful bedside manner. Dr. Hutchins came in, warmly welcomed me and was excited to check my macula to see if my DMD had progressed since my last visit. He asked if I'd been taking the Arreds 2 and course I said I had been. He was so happy for me when he discovered my DMD had not progressed at all. Dr. Hutchins shared in my joy. That's really heartwarming!

Robert K. Hutchins, M.D. is a retina and vitreous surgeon who has been practicing in the Cincinnati and Southeast Indiana region since 1987. Dr. Hutchins teaches retinal surgery to resident physicians and vitreo-retinal surgical fellows at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he is a member of the full-time faculty as an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and runs the Retina Service. Dr. Hutchins' expertise covers the entire spectrum of vitreo-retinal conditions some of which include complex retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular hole, macular pucker, macular degeneration, ocular histoplasmosis, retinal vascular disease, and posterior segment trauma.
