Cataract & Laser Institute

I am big on being punctual and always arriving ahead of time because my time is valuable and I value the time of others. I arrived at 10am for my 10.10am appointment after 3 text reminders and the waiting room had 15 patients which didn't bode well. Regardless I figured they had numerous staff seeing these patients. By 10.30 I asked about the wait and was told there was still 3 people ahead of me. They were a person down. Would it not be courteous to tell me and others about this? So now I'm likely to be an hour overdue at best. My husband has driven me in anticipation of me having dilation and has to be at work shortly so now has to call in and be late for his job. This is really unacceptable when communication is an option!

Optical shop was too busy to wait on me in a courteous manner. Had a tone and issue with me. Big attitude with very poor customer service. Very disappointed if you don't like your job find a new one.

I am overall very pleased with my results of YAG Laser after I have had cataract surgery last year. At first I was skeptical that I wish I didn't get the cataract surgery with blurred vision and bright light sensitivity thinking I should have stayed with glasses . But the laser treatment afterwards has brought my vision to a brand new life of crisp detailed sight and wow the colors spectrum has brought back to life again. Thank you again Dr Mane

Over the past several years I have been a patient who has always been quite pleased with the care I receive. Not only have all of my optical care needs been taken care of very well, all of the various employees have been kind, friendly and extremely helpful!!

Had a eye exam by Midwest optical that shown I had cataracts. So they sent me here. When I arrived they were all over me telling me how wonderful my eyes would be after the surgery. They show me want cost was covered and if I wanted the best lens it would be another $4400 each eye. So I figured if I was going to have the surgery why not get the best. So far everything was going fine even though they were all about the money being paid up front. So I made a appointment for the surgery. When I arrive they made sure that they were paid the additional $4400 for the first eye then took me right back into surgery. After I was released I went home. Vision was blurry but I figured it has to heal alittle before it cleared up.The next appointment was in a week for the other eye. When I arrived a week later, they made sure I paid the next $4400 and told me to have seat. Now I look around the waiting room and there was standing room only. Reminded me of a cattle call. I had an appointment for 730. Finally someone left and a seat opened up. IT TOOK UNTIL 930 2 hours later for them to call me in. After I was prepared for the surgery it took another 30 minutes. Finally I went to surgery. The next thing I remember was, I was being rushed out. Someone there told me my eye ripped and they were unable to use the premium lens I paid for. They refunded my money for that lens and put the standard lens in. The doctor never came out to explain want went wrong. They sent me home. The next day I peeled back the eye patch and all I could see was a black circle. Put the patch back on, hoping it would get better. Now the followup appointment was better, when the patch was removed. The black circle was gone but everything was blurry. Was told it needed time to heal. Now I have blurry vision in both eyes and have glasses that were useless because of these lenses. Time has been over 3 months now and vision is still blurry. Now I am being told that I need an eye exam for glasses. I have now invested the$4400 dollars, plus have about $2000 dollars in glasses I can't wear. I would never recommend this place. I was promised the world and am worse off now than when it all started.

I've been going here for years and I just canceled all future appointments. Today was the end of it: 1.) The receptionist asked if I had a certain medical condition because I declined a "new" test after I explained that I get this test already. Indiscreetly Asking a patient about a possible medical condition in front a full waiting room is off-putting. Probably not HIPAA violating, but unprofessional. 2.) This exam was to check my prescription. The technician didn't perform this! After some other tests, the tech took me to the next room. The Dr. was ready to write up my prescription and send me on my way, without the service being performed. The Dr. did my exam after I said something, but how are they this disorganized? 3.) When I got to the desk to pay, I was greeted with more than double the cost of what I was told at my last appointment. I was asked who I spoke to previously at the desk in May (it's late August). I have no idea. I didn't think that I needed a written quote for an eye exam. For what I paid today, I would not have made the appointment that I had today. That's not a mistake on my part. They failed to inform me that eye exams for your prescription are one price if you buy glasses from them and one price if you don't.

So I went here hoping to get some answers and I did which was fine but what wasn't fine. The first lady who took me back I kept mentioning I have cateracts I was born with it and it's like they didn't want to believe me? So I kept pressing and said for awhile I thought everyone had white dots in there eyes" they she too her eye tool with the light on it and said "huh you do have cateracts some could mistake it for reflection but yeah you have it in both eyes just looks small but we will see what the surgeon says" very happy i was believed by a medical professional. Then I get to the surgeon and asked why I was in and I'm over here like " Do they not write any of this down"? So I told her I have cateractis in my eyes and I feel like my left eye is growing cause it's getting worse . She uses this BIG machine to see into my eyes and says you only have cateracts in the left eye but not the right. Then when I tried to say that's not true I definitely have cateracts in both eyes I was born with it doctors called my mom crazy to untill they found someone who believed her. Then the surgeon was super nice in a witchy way which any of us who work in buisness and professionalism knows the tone. She left then the lady accompanied her asked if I'd liked to come back for yearly visits I said "no you guys can't even tell I have cateracts in my right eye when anyone who looks into my eye without a tool can see it" then she faught with me on it saying the surgeon was basically right and I was wrong and got a attitude the ginger haired lady. The only one who did anything right was the first woman at least remotely. I hate doctors cause I know my body it's MY body I've lived in it for 27years. I took multiple pictures of my dilated pupils when I got home and ya zoom in. Boom cateracts in both eyes clear as day. It really hurt cause the place is literally called cateract and laser institute I had HIGH hopes. I have PROOOF I have cateracts in both eyes and one one person believed me and two treated me crappy over it. I'd rather a sorry if anything. Stanton optical is better then this I have to say now and that's just because they don't fight with me at this point. If different things would've happened or transpired or more advice on my situation I would've dropped 500 there on glasses just like I did at optical I was ready for it honestly until it left a bad taste in my mouth

Had a wonderful experience at Maumee Cataract Clinic. The staff was attentive and professional. All appointments have been on time or even a little early, no waiting. Surgery went smoothly and follow up visits were thorough. Very happy with my results and highly recommend!
