Update 12/11. The office has yet to reach out after I sent the follow up email. I guess they are not interested in helping.
The doctor and his assistant were knowledgeable, attentive, and kind, and I appreciated the quality of care they provided. My concerns relate to the communication around charges at the front desk. I was offered an exam for both glasses and contacts, as well as optional eye imaging. When I asked about additional costs beyond my $10 copay, I was told there would be an additional charge.
At checkout, I was presented with a bill that applied my $150 glasses allowance along with an additional fee I had not been clearly informed about. When I asked for clarification, I was informed that it was my responsibility to know the full cost of the services, even though the information I received beforehand did not reflect the final amount. I also did not receive a detailed estimate in advance, which I understand should be provided under the No Surprises Act.
I recommend requesting a clear, itemized cost estimate prior to any services to ensure full transparency.
