Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons - Stow

I love the providers but HATE the scheduling. Plan on being here 2 hours at a minimum! I have never been able to get seen for less than 1 hour AFTER my scheduled appointment. I'm sitting in a room right now an hour past my appointment time. Time to find a new eye surgeon.

I normally don't write reviews, but I felt this was necessary after my last two experiences. My last annual eye exam lasted over two hours long because the doctor got behind (this was a 9/10am appointment so pretty early in the day still). I waited in the exam room not knowing when I was going to be next. Things happen and the doctor apologized and even put a note in my file to not wait the next time so I just chalked it up to an unusual day and those things happen so completely fine. However, I was supposed to have my next annual appointment today (after already being rescheduled from December due to the doctor's schedule) and it never even happened because of the wait times. My appointment was supposed to be at 5:15, but after hearing talk from other patients and realizing that some were still there from their 3:00 appointments I asked what my wait time was looking like and they said two hours. That would be at least 7:00pm. I asked to reschedule and the earliest I would be able to get in with the doctor I typically see would be end of July. I just think it is wild to have to always wait over two hours for basic eye appointments and that seems to be more the norm instead of just an off day. Unfortunately I will be changing eye doctors.

The doctors are very professional and Dr Willet is one of the best. The problem I have is with their staff. I was supposed to get my cataract surgery scheduled. It took over a week of calls back-and-forth before I could actually talk to somebody. When I finally get it scheduled, my follow up appointments are at all the different offices, Fairlawn Kent, and not my Stow office. Then he sends me the itinerary through an email, but he never attach the itinerary. I don't know who they're using to schedule their surgeries but they need to find somebody else because this is ridiculous.

This review is mainly regarding the billing department and lack of communication between them and offices. I've been a patient since my LASIK procedure several years ago and have had nothing but good experiences with the doctors. However, the past two years, I received a bill months later for visits that should have been a covered as annual eye exams. They were coded incorrectly and billed to my medical rather than vision insurance. Despite multiple calls to billing - both times - it takes a ridiculous amount of time (nearly a year after the original appointment) to get it corrected. After last year, I even mentioned it when I was in office this year for my visit -- to no avail. It's not worth the hassle and enough to make me find another eye doctor.

I came in to get my glasses adjusted and met with Noah. He was very kind and considerate. He listened to all my concerns and then helped me come to a conclusion on what I needed to do. I ordered another set of glasses. In this day and age when everyone's so busy, and in such a hurry, it was very refreshing to have a young person take time with me. He was very personable and did not hurry me along. I was treated like a special individual not just another number.

Great experience as a new patient !! Very welcoming positive atmosphere. The staff was both caring and professional and Dr Mathie was thorough, informative and made me feel very comfortable . Dr Mathie was incredibly patient and took the time to explain my eye health and treatment options.

I've been a patient at Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons for nearly 35 years. I've always considered it a top notch organization, but over the last few years that has changed. Patient wait times have increased, scheduling has become error prone, customer/billing support has been outsourced overseas, and pricing itemizations and hardware sales strategies have become little more than a money grab. Very disappointing.

Dr. Briggs is the best. She has a lot of experience and it felt really reassuring as I dealt with a new diagnosis. She gave me a great treatment plan, answered all my questions and gave great advices. I highly recommend her.
