Massengale Eye Care

This place is amazing. Due to the fact I have two jobs, it's hard for them to accommodate my schedule. They always find a spot formed. Dr. Massengale is courteous, polite, professional, friendly and thorough. His staff, especially Madison is kind, gentle, professional, understanding and empathetic. I used to use Dean McGee, I will not be going back to Dean McGee

Probably the worst eye care place I have ever been to. Only person I give good credit to is the front desk lady since she was kind to my children but this isn't a place I want to take my family anymore. I hate leaving bad review but I'm pretty upset with this places..

They lie to you about what insurance covers and are terrible for unsuspecting soonercare members. Glasses should be covered but they wanted a sitting fee and this is even after we not only asked at the time if making the appointment but also as we checked in! Then we get dine with the exam and they state we have to pay xx amount. It's dishonest and it's sad they have to do business like this. Very disapointed and looking into options to contact soonercare to report them. If you have soonercare, beware. Thier words mean nothing!

If I give this place one star I would. As a man of color, I felt extremly discriminated aginist. I was told there was a balance on my account from 2021 of $300, that my insurance didnt cover but they just now are letting me know about this balance. Ive left multiple voicmails with the billing manager Candice, and I have never received a call or emial back regarding this balance. Ive come in to the office and the office manager refuses to speak with me. This place is super unprofessional and I believe they are scamming to get any money they possibly can from years ago. Do not go here!

I've always enjoyed coming to this clinic but my experience today left a sour taste in my mouth. I asked about scheduling an appointment for my daughter, who has insurance coverage through her dad. They were aware when I first scheduled that I may not be able to get a physical copy of her ID. They said it would be good to have but wasn't necessary. My husband took her to her first appointment and everything was fine. They staff in back were very patient with her when she refused to allow them to dilate her eyes so they rescheduled today. Per the office manager, my daughter couldn't be seen because they didn't have a physical copy of her insurance card. I'm confused how that wasn't a problem before but it is now. We had my daughter prepared for the visit and she was willing to cooperate and they turned her away. We'll be seeking care elsewhere for her.

I wrote a review for when I visited my first time, but have now deleted it. The first time I came here was for an injury and everything went so well. This time I came for an exam. I am just so disappointed and frustrated. I spent a full hour there. I had two different people exam me before the doctor came in and I explained why I came in and what was bothering me. By the time the doctor came in, he didn't even acknowledge me. He just did another check and looked at the computer notes and said alright- see ya- as he's already walking out the door. So I have no answers. Basically- if you are looking for a regular set up of waiting and moving people through, I think you will be okay here. You should also pay close attention to all of the papers they have you sign about your financial responsibility. It seems they have a lot of issues with billing and insurance. It made me uncomfortable and I am almost waiting to get some kind of random additional bill, even though I didn't get what I was looking for.

Dr. Massengale is a true professional. I have been going to him for years and plan on continuing to do so. Why? Because he not only fills my eyeglasses Rx, he also is genuinely concerned with my overall eye health. You can see it when he examines you and scans your optical nerve, and looks at last year's review, etc. His staff is also first rate and he has had the same people there for many many years -- including his understudy doctor (whose name I can't immediately recall) but he provides excellent care as well. Highly recommended. I have even told people in my office (northside) who have been looking for a new eye doctor to come south once a year because Dr. Massengale's care is worth it !

I have recently reluctantly switched to this doctor from the doctor I have used for 10 years due to an insurance change and I have been more than pleased. They have treated me, my husband, our four minor children and our adult daughter. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. I feel like they go above and beyond to treat and care for each one of my family members. I do not feel like my family has ever had this level of care before from any other doctor. The Saturday appointments are extremely helpful. All of my children had a great experience, even my middle child who does not handle the eye doctor well. I have read other reviews about the wait time but so far I have been here three times and my wait time was less than 5 minutes during the last two visits and about 30 minutes during my first visit which is understandable when I brought in 6 new patients.
