James P. Cheslock, OD

Dr. Cheslock gives very thorough eye exams and he is very kind. He found an emergency situation in one of my eyes and got me the help I needed that very day. This is my 2nd year going to him. Thank you.

My husband was referred to him for a routine eye check, he came home raving about how throughly Dr. Cheslock explained the exam and his results. I made an appointment for myself and instead of pushing buying a pair of readers from his office, he told me the strength I needed and encouraged me to purchase them at Rite-Aid or the like. We then took our youngest daughter in after she failed her school eye screening and he was fantastic in explaining the serious issue and what his course of action was to correct the problem as best possible. I will be making routine eye exams for our other 4 children this week!

Dr. Cheslock himself is a very nice, professional eye doctor. I had been a patient of his for over 25 years. Unfortunately his "Office Manager" as she announced herself, is the rudest person that I have ever had the dis-pleasure of speaking with. She has, in my case, made misjudgments about me and my appointment history. She has no knowledge of my medical history that took over my ability to choose when I would actually be available for any appointment that I made in good faith during the past 7 years of my life. She rattled off that I had missed 6 appointments within the past 3 years. And, therefore I was not going to be seen as a patient there any longer. I was caught completely off guard. I just said something to try and explain but she came back with more unnecessary rudeness. She has no idea of the many other things that I missed out on during these past 3 years and the 4 years before that as well. Fighting Cancer takes away every bit of control that you have had on many aspects of your life. It is unfortunate that I will have this experience of his disrespectful, rude and seemingly emotionally calloused office manager as my final memory of Cheslock Optical.

I have been going to Dr. Cheslock for over 10 years, he is a nice man and a good doctor, but he is not exceptional and certainly not worth putting up with the nightmare at the front desk. Over the years I have ignored her attitude because of Dr. Cheslock and in truth she was always nice when I bought new frames and handed over a fat check. The last couple of times I have had to get the free frames and her attitude has changed in the extreme. Now she is rude on the phone and in person. This last time she ran around with her hair on fire and treated me as if I was standing there with my hat in my hand. I suppose that I no longer qualify for common courtesy. My glasses were handed to me dirty and there was no attempt to make sure they fit properly or that I was satisfied, she simply walked away calling over shoulder to have a nice day. I will never go back.

I purposely created a Google account to counteract this poor review previously read about Cheslock Optical. My experience was completely different. First, I was having some concerns with my eye and his staff worked hard to get me in, not to mention they were nothing but courteous. Second, Cheslock Optical offered me the best deal on contacts I could get in town (this was after checking Walmart prices in addition to 1-800-contacts!). I never felt rushed and they answered my every question. I fear that the very negative review previously posted was from his competition, knowing that they are up against one great Optometrist.

My family has been going there for 6 years. We had to stop going there because of the very bad front desk lady, very sad because Dr. Cheslock is amazing, maybe he should think about who's running the front desk. Afterall it's the face of his business. It's not nice that the costumer can hear the front desk lady talk poorly about the customers that are in the waiting room and who choose them for their optometry needs.

I called looking for general information to possibly become a patient at this office. When I started asking a few questions about whether or not they took our insurance and where they practiced out of, the person on the phone asked rudely "What are we doing here? Do you want to schedule an appointment? I have 2 other people on hold to get to." I apologized for bothering her and hung up. This office needs to train their staff about customer service. I will not call again and be sure to let others know they are too busy to answer general questions.

I had great service at this place so I recommended this place to my boyfriend! The optometrist knows what he is doing and is very polite! The receptionist is also very polite and very helpful as well as knowledgeable! Apparently check does not like to call back when a person finds out some information.
