I called office to get an eye exam for new glasses. I was asked if I had any problems and I said no but occasionally I have flickers of light in my peripheral vision. Went for appointment and it was for an optometrist, not an ophthalmologist. I thought great, no specialist $45 co pay, insurance pays for exam. Wrong! They coded my visit as "medical visit" so co pay applied. Then I was told since it was Medical I had to pay $50 to get the prescription. Then said I needed to see an Ophthalmologist to evaluate possible glaucoma. And another ophthalmologist to evaluate cataracts. Each requiring another $45 co pay. If my exam was coded "medical" I should have seen an ophthalmologist to begin with and received my prescription. A co pay of $45. Not 3 visits costing $175. Dr. Kerr OD was excellent, her exam was thorough and she explained everything. No complaints at all with her. It was the overall appointment process that needs review.
