Robert A. Kitei, MD

Dr. Kitei is very smart and very knowledgeable in his field. He has helped my kids over the years, but in recent years his demeanor has become more standoff-ish and judgmental. I used to feel like he actually cared about my children as people but not anymore. When my 22 year old son developed stage 4 malignant melanoma and went cross eyed- one of the first signs, before he was diagnosed- Dr. Kitei was dismissive and rude, and took care to "cya" in his paperwork by claiming my son didn't take care of himself since he hadn't come to see Dr. Kitei in about 2-3 years prior. He did take care of his health, trust me he is "all doctored up". Just not with this doctor for a couple years because even the time before that he had been rude. Other doctors had recommended he return to Dr. Kitei because of his expertise. It wasn't worth it, and we won't be going back.

Dr. Kitei is obviously a very busy man... but that never takes away from our visit! He's able to quickly pick up right where he left off at the previous appointment, and he always takes the time to explain the details and answer questions. My son has never been apprehensive to cooperate with Dr. Kitei because the doctor's approach to his patients is very calm and casual. I appreciate that Dr. Kitei is part of our care team.

We had a very difficult time finding a pediatric eye Dr. for our 2.5 year old after we relocated from out-of-state. Dr. Kitei was thorough, knowledgeable, and patient with our son. He provided us peace of mind and answered all of our questions satisfactorily. We feel lucky we were able to see him and establish our little guy as a patient.

We have been seeing Dr. Kitei since my adult children were little, and he is truly the best neuro-ophthalmologist. After seeing nine other specialists, he was the only one that could help and took my child in for an early appointment despite his overbooked schedule. Thank you, Dr. Kitei! You are the best of the best!

Dr. Kitei is wonderful with young children. My 5 year old daughter has been seeing Dr. Kitei and he helped us navigate and better understand what seemed like a very scary diagnosis. His bedside manner in helping a child feel comfortable and parents truly and fully understand the details is top notch. We feel very lucky to have him as a part of her care team!

We visited the office with our toddler, who was nervous about her very first eye exam. The office has a kids section that she loved sitting in, and even a little kid's chair in the exam room. The staff were so kind and loving to our kids, too. We felt very cared for from the moment we arrived. Dr. Kitei was so kind and considerate with our toddler - even checking her doll's eyes at her request! - and wonderful with us, too, as nervous parents. You can tell he's brilliant and highly experienced - he knew what my eye problems were (the mama, not the patient!) and what my daughter's looked like before he even examined my little one! He was considerate of and patient with all of us. He talked us through our concerns, helped us through our questions, and left us feeling supported and confident of what our daughter needs. We will be back and are happy to have found him. Thank you, Dr. Kitei, for a great experience!

I have enjoyed having Dr. Kitei as my doctor since my first appt. with him maybe 3 yrs. ago. Love his sense of humor, and open communication about the health of my eyes; where it is now and what to expect in the future. I highly recommend him!
