Great first meeting with them. Charlene at the desk is great. Nice woman with a great sense of humor. Dr is good too, good personality, not too stuffy. Also let me speak and express my thoughts on treatment.

We have been very happy with the service and attention we have received as patients at this office. They were very accommodating to me, when I was dealing with ocular migraines. I felt the doctor and office staff went above and beyond ruling everything out and working to find contact lenses that would work for me. At the time, there wasn't a lens on the market that had what I needed (daily disposable and an irregular astigmatism adjustment) but they gave me several options and worked patiently to find the best solution available at the time. Because of insurance changes we were not going there for a few years. Recently, I took my 8 year-old-daughter to be fitted. She raved about her exam! She felt that the doctor and optician gave her great attention and let her try every frame in the store and some from the back, until she found the pair that was a perfect fit. Instead of just handing us a prescription, they spent time with her explaining how to rest and exercise her eyes while reading in order to strengthen her weaker eye and thwart further deterioration of her vision. We were extremely happy with the service we received. The office staff has always been kind and willing to do whatever they can to fit into our schedule for appointments, fittings, and contact checks. We really appreciate the customer service here and recommend the office!

My experience was the exact opposite of the previous review. I called the office the day I was leaving for a vacation and asked if I could be squeezed in due to eye discomfort. Not only did the receptionist have me come in, but I didn't even have to wait very long to be seen. The doctor took his time with me and relieved my concerns while providing a simple plan for improvement. His recommendations proved effective almost immediately. The entire process was handled in a smooth, efficient and supportive way that I truly appreciated.

I have purchased glasses and got eye exams from Westgate Optical for 20+ years, with an occasion or 2 when I tried another optician. I wear glasses since childhood, over 40 years. The others were OK, but Westgate Optical has always been convenient, professional, and friendly. They are no pressure when it comes to selling frames and lenses. At a recent visit I wanted to get new lenses with my new prescription put into my existing frames. They agreed my frames are good quality & in good condition. I saved a substantial amount by using my existing frames. The optician in no way tried to "upsell" me with new frames. They were more than happy to accommodate my wishes. I think I will stay with them always in the future.

I'm not sure if the negatives on here went to the same place but I have been dealing with Westgate Optical for years and won't deal with anyone else. I've tried others a few years ago when they moved to their current location but couldn't find anyone better. The reception is great, Dr. Spering is awesome and Chris is the best optician you'll ever encounter. They have gone above and beyond anytime I've run into issues with my glasses. Extremely inconvenient that I made an appointment a week in advance for my son to only arrive and be told they do not accept chip insurance! First of all this is IMPORTANT information you should of asked on the phone on the day the appointment was made! Not only did they not ask for what insurance he has they failed to get a contact number to at least call back and cancel before inconveniencing me! It may not be a big deal to you but I had to take my son out of school early Causing him to miss class AND leave my JOB early for no reason!!!!! This is beyond unprofessional because this was all negligence on the staff behalf !!!! Why would you make an appointment with out asking for insurance? Every other place you call will ask you that before even thinking about giving you an appointment. I literally just called a different optical location & guess what they did? Ask me for allllllll my info BEFORE giving me a date! I cannot get back the loss of hours at work and teach my child his missed lessons so I hope that after who ever reads this long message you are all a little more mindful today & forward when making appointments! And I see how you responded ignorantly to the previous one star review, so if you can not respond in a professional way do not respond at all!

The doctor is very knowledgeable and professional. All of the employees are easy going and good to the customers. My only complaint is that the eyeglasses selection is small. But would recommend this place to anyone.

After reading a bad review by a disatisfied patient, I felt compelled to share experience. I was the recepient of a botched surgical procedure that left me essential handicapped. The surgeon and two other physicians basically told me that they could do nothing to correct the double vision that was the result of the surgery. Dr. Spering broke ranks with the other three physicians and advised me to go back to my previous Othamologist in NJ to get another opinion on the matter because he knew it wasn't right. Long story short, it took a surgical team of three to correct the mess that the surgeon made (that exactly what my opthamologist called it). I have returned to work and am working to develop my side business as a result of Dr Spering and the staff at Westgate Optical The service I have received here has been outstanding before, during, and after my ordeal. And on the rare occasion when mistake has been made, they own it, and fix it without a fuss.
