We have received care for years experiencing no issues with the staff, but today was different. I requested a change in contacts for my child, expecting the staff to ensure they were the correct size lens. We called ahead of time to ensure these particular lenses were in stock. When we arrived, we asked the employee at the desk a few questions, one of these questions pertaining to the size of the lens. My family was informed during my daughter's first sizing around a year ago that she requires a larger size contact lens. We calmly inquired the employee pertaining to the matter. It was during this interaction the employee replied in a rude tone that "all contact lenses are practically the same size" and "it shouldn't matter". We questioned these words as we were told differently by the Optometrist. The employee appeared to become more dismissive to our inquiry and brushed our concerns off. My family did not wish to immediately cause a scene(in case we were mistaken) and headed to the vehicle. My daughter tried these lenses on in the car. We noticed a sizable difference between her current contacts and the new ones provided by the employee.
After putting in the contact, my child experienced blurriness, discomfort, and some pain. These are the same symptoms she experienced when she first tried on contacts, and the Optometrist informed us she would require a larger size fitting. I headed inside to ask a different staff member, as I no longer trusted the words of the other employee. I inquired as to the sizing of contacts and if they matter. The employee from the front(the one from earlier) interjects into our conversation, assures me she knows more than the current employee I am speaking with, and reiterates the size of the contact does not matter.
After a banter, the employee no longer wished to speak with me. I ordered my daughter's previous contacts and leave. After exiting the store, I headed to another vision center, which informed me the size of contacts DO, in fact, matter. Improper or ill fitting contacts can apparently cause damage to the eye, even scratching it.
I am deeply disappointed in the complete disregard for our concerns and negligence regarding the care of our child.
Staff is super with glasses selection. Knowledge with the different types of lenses and the options that are available. There are a lot of options to choose from with glasses so that is nice. Great designer frames. Doctor's here are nice and explain what is going on of anything with your eyes, in an easily understood manner.
I have never had a bad experience at Johnstown Family Vision!! Everyone there is so kind, patient, and helpful!! You're always greeted with a big smile, they make you feel like family, and they truly care , and always ask if I have any questions or concerns. You get a real warm friendly feeling as you step inside , and they always decorate so beautifully for each holiday occasion!! A "BIG THANKYOU" to EVERYONE for your years of great service!! Whoever answers the phone there is absolutely ignorant, and needs to learn how to talk to people in a polite manner! I ordered glasses from family vision and it only took a week for them to come in, great! I went in to try them on to make sure the fit and everything else was right, and I was getting blurred vision out of the left lens, no biggie. They told me it would take less time to have them remade than the original order, and two weeks later after the 4th of July weekend, on Tuesday, my wife decided to call to see if they were in, mind you they were supposed to call me, and yes they were there in, but my wife was greeted with an ignorant person who acted like she didn't have time to answer the phone! After spending $600 on a pair of glasses and getting that kind of treatment on the phone, and it's not the cost of the glasses, I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!! I would expect an apology, but I understand that ignorance of that kind just doesn't get it!!!
From front desk, to contacts, to the opticians and the doctors everyone is so kind and nice to work with. They have taken amazing care of me and my family, after having poor experiences with some other eye doctors in the past I highly recommend going to Family Vision.
Best place to get glasses! They were very helpful I have got so many compliments already on my new frames! My husband's appointment was done so fast! Highly recommend going here!!
I went to the office with a change in my prescription for my eyeglasses. Even though I didn't have an appointment I was welcomed & told an optician would be with me shortly. Within a few minutes Samantha called me over to help me. I had picked out glasses there in June after being discharged from right cataract surgery. Even though I knew my prescription would change after my scheduled left cataract surgery I wanted to get my glasses then because my right vision was way off. Of course the left eye prescription changed post-op & my right eye changed some more. She called the lab with the new prescription & when she got off the phone she said that's it. I looked at her puzzled & she said they will make new lenses at no charge since it had been such a short amount of time. I couldn't believe she did that for me as I was prepared to pay. I thanked her profusely for her kindness & efficiency. Samantha is a credit to this office.
I've been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. The workers here are very friendly and helpful too. I've always been able to find nice glasses. Actually the selection is so big I have trouble trying to pinpoint the perfect pair! It always takes a lot of time for me to pick out the best glasses and the workers have been very patient with me. I haven't been to many places to really compare how big of a selection they do have, but I've always been happy coming here.
