Appointment was at 10:30 AM. She didn't leave until 2:00 PM.
This office is extremely disorganized. It took two hours just to see the virtual doctor, with constant connection issues and multiple hang-ups. At one point, internet technicians were on the screen instead of the doctor. Several patients left because of the long wait, and there was little communication about what was going on.
Staff seemed overwhelmed, going in and out of rooms repeatedly. The employee who performed the eye check smelled strongly of cigarettes, which was uncomfortable in a small exam room. After imaging was done and sent to the virtual doctor, there was even more waiting.
To make matters worse, they lost her insurance card and later confirmed they had given it to the wrong patient. They had to call the man who received it and ask him to come back and return it.
Four hours for a routine eye appointment, technical issues, and mishandling personal information is unacceptable. Definitely not a professional or reassuring experience.
We have had several visits after 2020. The drama that sometimes ensued between eye care staff over charts etc. was embarrassing to witness. Saw an older couple get up and walk out after waiting for someone to help them. On 11-29-25 I called to see if my child's glasses were ready. A woman told me, yes, then hung up as I was thanking her.
Terrible customer service. The day I went in to get my daughter's exam and glasses they had told me the sale was ending that day... I told her I'm sorry, but I made the appointment when the sale was going on and I intend to get the sale price. After much haggling, she honored the sale price. Be careful if you make an appointment here. The man that works there is wonderful, however.

I have never had an issue with America's Best in the past, which makes this experience even more disappointing. My visit today was completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
I came in needing contact lenses and was told my prescription had expired. While I understand policies exist and take responsibility for not taking action on my own, that does not justify the way I was treated. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an unfriendly and dismissive attitude from the front desk. Even more concerning, an employee named Carmen -- who I was not even speaking to -- laughed at me and made a condescending comment implying that I was "grown enough to know better" and that the situation was entirely my fault. Being mocked and spoken down to as a customer is unacceptable.
There is a clear difference between enforcing policy and being disrespectful. The lack of professionalism and basic courtesy shown during this visit was shocking. I will not be returning, and I strongly encourage management to address the behavior of their front desk staff.
The whole family has used them for the last few pairs of eyeglasses and so far so good. One thing to be aware of, once you make an appointment with America's best you will receive reminders 2 to 3 three times a day every single day right up to the appointment. I can't imagine why they risk angering their customers but they do for some reason.
This is the 3rd time I've gone for an eye exam at America's Best. I feel like they are very helpful with any questions I have and are just nice people. The first time I went was 2022 and had a really good experience. It was the first time I had been to the eye Dr so I didn't know what to expect. But everyone was really nice. It was a good experience. My 2nd time was ok but I felt like the girl I had selling me the glasses was trying to get over on me and charged me way more than what I was supposed to be. I only wanted to do the $79.99 deal for the exam and 2 pairs of glasses which I had told her right away. I ended up with a $400 bill. When I questioned her about it she gave me a round about answer and I just ended up paying it. Still not really understanding how my bill was so high. I went back the next day and another woman helped me and fixed the other girls "mistake". Which I didn't feel was a mistake and made it right for me. So yesterday when I went in I was really hoping to not have that girl again. Thankfully I didn't see her. This time the lady who gave me the exam was just awesome and really kind. Very easy to talk to. I can't remember her name at the min but she was really great. The lady who sold me the glasses really helped me out. Her name was Kathy. She helped me get the best deal possible and I appreciated that so much! I will definitely be coming back again next time I need glasses.
Dianne and Kathy were so pleasant and helpful. The virtual exam with the eye doctor was very thorough and as good as - if not better than- an in person exam. Will go back because of the friendly, welcoming people.
This is a long time ago, because I've never bothered with posting this until now. But America's best should not be open. I understand and appreciate trying to offer a cheap and minimalist eye doctor experience, but at the very least, meet the industry minimum for customer service. I have had so many awful experiences (one of them being as close to assault as I have ever been to in my young life) and will never go back. I don't care about the money. Getting smacked in the face with equipment because a technician and an eye doctor had a witch fight (replace the w with a b) is beyond unacceptable for any health service, let alone any other business. I've always thought that the Google rating should go by 1-100, because this would be an easy 1. Insane.
The Lancaster Lititz Pike location for America's best contacts and eyeglasses is superb! The examination process was very detailed and unique with an eye technician initially within the office with a three part phase. Then they take you to another room and do an eye examination with an eye doctor Via zoom. They review all of the test results and then give you an actual eye exam by the doctor With the eye technician Doing the actual labour part with the eye doctor observing! The whole process is pretty cool! They had a relatively good selection of frames, and the checkout process was very Easy! ( I had Kathy who was absolutely charming!) she worked diligently to help me get exactly what I wanted, and even was able to get me a military Discount! $463 for two pairs of glasses with bifocals, Transition lenses in one pair, and polarise sunglasses for the other pair! (and an eye exam)is outstanding in this day and age! Go to America's Best! They treat you right!
