The service at Eye Associates of Lancaster was okay, and they offers a good selection of eyewear.
I've twice tried to meet with an ophthalmologist for a cataract evaluation. In the first instance, I showed up on the appointed place and time to meet with a Dr. Fileta. I was told that they had no record of me or my appointment, despite the fact that I had twice been seen and fitted with glasses.
Last week, after a 2-month wait to see Dr. Landis, I sat (with MANY other patrons) for 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before I got up and went home.
Their Dr.'s may be first rate, if you are lucky enough ever to see them face-to-face.
I'm going elsewhere for my eye care needs.
I had a very disappointing experience with this eye doctor's office. I was running about 15 minutes late due to unexpected gridlocked traffic -- something that can happen in this area. My appointment was scheduled, but I was never given a specific arrival time -- no reminder or mention of needing to arrive early. Despite a misunderstanding and traffic, no one from the office bothered to call and check in or offer any flexibility. When I arrived, I was turned away without any attempt to accommodate, except reschedule. I understand the importance of punctuality, but some understanding and basic communication would have gone a long way. Very poor customer service.
Steer clear of this place unless you enjoy frustration, endless waiting, and a trip back in time to a decaying relic of what was once a respectable clinic.
Let me be clear: the doctors themselves are competent enough, and the staff we've encountered have been fine. But that's where the positives end. Everything else about this place is a disaster.
First, the wait times are unbelievable. Every single visit, we have been forced to sit there for at least 30 minutes past our scheduled appointment--only to finally see the optician, after which we're sentenced to another agonizing 30-minute wait for the doctor. That's an hour of our lives wasted, every single time.
Today, I tried to be proactive and called ahead to see if there was a delay so we could adjust our arrival time. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I was sent straight to voicemail. No answer. No help. No sign that anyone even cared.
And the facility itself? A disaster zone. The furniture is falling apart, the walls are worn and dreary, and the floors--while possibly cleaned--look perpetually filthy due to their sheer age and neglect. The equipment, once state-of-the-art, now feels like relics from a forgotten era. Sitting in an exam room, staring at the crumbling surroundings, I couldn't help but wonder: What happened to this place?
Now imagine doing all of this with a one-year-old in tow. Trying to keep a restless toddler occupied while time drags on endlessly in a dim, outdated, lifeless office is nothing short of torture.
This place isn't just bad--it's a test of patience and sanity. Proceed at your own risk.
I was referred to Dr. Landis for a bad floater. He managed to get me in the same day, realized that the problem was a retinal one and was able to get me in with a retina specialist later that day.
Since that time, Dr. Landis has performed my cataract surgery and I have found him to be very skilled and very compassionate. He is not a physician who wants to slice, dice, and bill you, being very upfront about options and keeping surgery as a last resort.
I am very lucky to have him as my ophthalmologist.
Echoing a lot of the other reviews: doctors are nice and about half of the other associates are very nice. As far as appointments, scheduling, etc. they will indeed treat you like dirt. Cancel appointments for no reason, doctor doesn't show up (I assume they work 9-3 four days a week), move your appointment out 6 weeks, act as if you're the problem for wanting to get your EYES working, and so forth. Expect to wait an hour before being seen. Then more waiting in the exam rooms. A lot of the staff (over half, including most doctors) are friendly, though. It seems it's a structural problem.
After scheduling an appointment for my fiance who may have an eye infection and is an established patient, they called back 10 mins later and canceled and refused him because they no longer accept our insurance and don't do self pay. This is not something to mess around with. We have never been late with any payment in the past and never missed an appointment. So to now be refused, is uncalled for. Especially after being in urgent care last night and being told to follow up with the eye Dr. Now we have to find another eye Dr asap because this is a serious issue.
Dr. Fileta is amazing. He is kind, gentle and an expert in eye surgery. He corrected cataracts in both of my eyes without any discomfort or issues. Thank you Dr. Fileta!!!
