My husband and I both had an amazing experience with Dr. Pat and Dr. Shafer. From the moment we walked in, we felt comfortable, like we had been a patient for years. They took the time to really listen, asked thoughtful questions, and made sure they understood our medical history instead of just skimming over it. Every question we had was answered clearly and patiently, not rushed in any way. It's rare to find a doctor who is both incredibly knowledgeable and truly compassionate, and they both are exactly that. I also can't say enough about their amazing staff. Shafer Vision is the high bar by which all medical practices should be measured. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The reception area is comfortable and well appointed, but you are never left waiting long. The technicians were so professional and efficient, completing the initial screening without delay and always ensuring I was comfortable and my questions were answered. And Dr. Shafer? Amazing. His friendly demeanor and excellent manner immediately put me at ease. He explained my prognosis and my options, answered all my questions. Dr. Shafer performed the cataract surgery within a couple weeks. The procedure was amazingly easy with Dr. Shafer. He softly explained everything he was doing throughout the procedure, putting me at ease. His calm, cheerful manner transferred to me, putting me at complete ease. The surgery went perfectly and my eyesight is better than I could have ever imagined. My followup visit the day after surgery was just as pleasant as my first visit. I would very highly recommend Dr. Brian Shafer and Shafer Vision!

I had PRK eye surgery in April of this year. The doctors were very thorough and informative with the scans taken before the surgery, explaining what the surgery entailed, and the aftercare instructions. After my initial assessment, they explained why they didn't feel Lasik surgery was an option for me, and even consulted with each other as I was boarder-line with being eligible, but ultimately decided against it because they didn't want to take any chance of it not going well. They went onto explain why they felt PRK was a safe option for me, answered all of my questions, and made me comfortable in making my decision to get the surgery. I appreciate their care and concern and they have now gained a loyal customer! If you're looking for competent, caring eye doctors I highly suggest Shafer Vision Institute.

I can't say enough good things about Shafer Vision Institute. From the moment I walked into SVI I knew I made the right decision in going there. Their office was clean and inviting, and their staff very friendly and helpful. Dr. Pat and Dr. Shafer were both amazing. So kind, professional, and down to earth. Most doctors are in and out of appointments in no time - but at Shafer Vision they took their time to answer my questions and concerns. I felt seen and heard which is very important to me.
I had a stubborn chalazion which I eventually had to have removed. I was nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Shafer made the process quick and worry free and my eye healed up so nicely.
