From the moment I walked in the door, the newest employee was well trained, and getting quick assistance from the other staff as needed. This was my first time at RI Eye Institute and all went well.
Dr Sharff was terrific. He identified my eye issues quickly, and defined a pathway to resolution. (A prior eye Dr, at another firm, had been unable to properly diagnose or resolve my condition.) I am very satisfied by Dr. Sharff's evaluation steps and a new medical plan for me.
And before leaving, I used the Optical office as well, to get a pair of replacement sunglasses. The sales person provided great advice, and she understood how to provide me with the most insurance benefits that were available to me.
Overall, this is a 5 Star Team!.
I've been a patient at this office and the Providence office for over three years, coming in every 2-4 weeks because I have a vision-threatening eye condition that requires close monitoring. My doctor is truly exceptional -- compassionate, knowledgeable, and the only reason I've been able to maintain my vision through all of this. The front desk staff has always been friendly, helpful, and understanding as well.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the office management.
Despite always paying my high copay at every visit and regularly making payments toward my back balance, I struggle to keep up due to the extremely high cost of prescription eye drops -- even with insurance. I've never ignored my balance, never refused to pay, and have always done my best.
Recently, I was told I would not be allowed to see my doctor anymore unless I paid hundreds of dollars upfront, which I simply cannot do. Refusing care to a long-term patient with a vision-threatening illness over a balance I've been actively paying on is not only heartless -- it's dangerous. It shows that the office manager prioritizes money over patient safety and continuity of care.
It's heartbreaking that an office with such incredible medical staff allows management policies like this to jeopardize patient health. Patient care should come first, especially for those with chronic vision conditions who depend on ongoing treatment.
Pat, the woman who did all the pre-examination work was thorough, very professional and personable. Dr. Scharff, the same. A few more smiles from the staff on the front desk would be nice, but overall a good experience.
I have confidence in Dr Zerbinopoulos and it's great to see him yearly. I have Blue Cross and Medicare but they tagged a $45.00 fee to get a prescription. I finally accepted that. Now I just got a bill for $60.00 on top of the $45.00 for Refractive State without alerting me of the extra charge. Why? Thanks
The staff and doctors at the Eye Institute office in South County Commons can't be beat. They are warm, professional and inspire confidence. I've been a patient there for years and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Just had cataract surgery and Dr. Larkin and her team were great.
I had an appointment with Dr Scharff today and was very pleased with my time with him. He was thorough and explained the results of my exam patiently. The staff at this facility, however, is very rude and impatient. There are signs throughout the offices asking patients to be kind to the staff. The staff that I interacted with today needs to be told to be kind to patients.
Very nice informative staff and super clean new facilities. Did have a 30 min wait past my appointment time but I understand that it happens with all doctors offices so it wasn't a big deal. Wish they accepted state insurance in their frame shop tho but they did give good referrals to shops that do take it.
Well, it was my first time there and I waited close to an hour. It's a very busy place but an hour is a bit much. However everyone was very kind and apologetic for the wait. Very helpful in explaining things and overall a good experience.
