Coastal Eye Associates:

I wanted to share my experience with regards to Coastal Eye Associates in Westerly, Rhode Island today December 15, 2025! I was called this morning from front desk receptionist at 8:25 am ...who, RUDELY called to inform me that Dr.Grills, had to cancel my appointment for December 16...I was still asleep as I was up extremely late in the morning of December 15 th..so,my dad took the rude phone call from front desk clerk... as she just wanted to get off the phone conversation with him! I called back at 10:40 after only 4 hours of sleep to reschedule this appointment as it wasn't a yearly appointment check up ...it was a appointment for eye problems as Dr.Grills stated in my May chart appointment that I had a Huge floater in my left eye ...quote, "the BIGGEST she has ever seen" and my right eye has a PUCKER impairing my vision and she scheduled me for the December 16th follow up to take more pictures of eye and seeing the PROGRESSION and how I should move forward...possibly eye surgery! Well, I was shocked that this front desk CLERK was so UNPROFESSIONAL,CONDESCENDING,AND HER COMBATIVE BEHAVIOR during my short conversation...I was told that she WOULD talk with Dr.Grills to try to SQUEEZE me in before the END of DECEMBER! WELL,she NEVER CALLED BACK...wasn't surprised as she didn't seem to care about her job or being caring about Coastal Eye Associates patients!!So,unfortunately I didn't have any choice but to call back after 3 HOURS of WAITING by the PHONE for HER CALL BACK...so,I called and she picked up the phone with her ATTITUDE...RUDE ATTITUDE at THAT...didn't have a TIME or DATE for this year...I ask her "WHATS with your UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE on this phone conversation " she INCREASED the ATTITUDE and put me on hold 3 times...then I was transferred to Betty...then Betty put me on hold without saying anything but hello this is Betty,...I was then transferred to MISS PERSONALITY from the START of this MESS...I must say...BEING a LONG TIME PATIENT of Thames Eye Group in Mystic, Connecticut where I was EXTREMELY HAPPY with Dr.Grills and THAMES EYE GROUP Such a PROFESSIONAL and CARING FACILITY..HOWEVER, they closed when Dr.Parker RETIRED and Dr.Grills moved her practice to the Westerly, Rhode Island location UNDER COASTAL EYE ASSOCIATES...UNFORTUNATELY, the RUDE FRONT DESK CLERK CONTINUED to talk over me and WOULDN'T let me SPEAK..."WHO DOES THIS"...?????????I HAD HER ON SPEAKER PHONE EVERYONE IN THE ROOM HEARD MY CONVERSATION WITH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE.....WOW...UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE...I was TRYING to EXPLAIN to her that I was a STAGE3C CANCER SURVIVOR with lots of other doctors appointments, MRI's ,CT scans, bloodwork, procedures, ect...and she couldn't be bothered...with HUGE ATTITUDE,...To talk to SOMEONE FIGHTING for their LIFE...SAD, BUT UNFORTUNATELY TRUE....They were offering me appointments in the month of FEBRUARY 2026...I have EYE ISSUES...I DIDN'T CANCEL my APPOINTMENT on the day BEFORE my APPOINTMENT that I DESPERATELY NEEDED...AS DR.GRILLS, KNOWS ABOUT MY VISION ISSUES WHICH IS QUITE TROUBLING....THAT I WAS TREATED SO DISRESPECTFULLY BY THIS RECEPTIONIST FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHAT SO EVER.... I SEE THAT SHE HAS SEVERAL GOOGLE REVIEWS ABOUT HER LACK OF RESPECT, COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND PROFESSIONALISM...SEVERAL 1 STARS! THE RUDE FRONT DESK CLERK/ RECEPTIONIST canceled my appointment...why the rude attitude???WHAT HAPPENED to the 48 HOUR NOTICE???...if you do THAT to THEM ...you are CHARGED a FEE for that...! They CANCELED on ME at the last minute so,I guess the RECEPTIONIST /CLERK was WARRANTED to be COMBATIVE, and ABRASIVE with me a STAGE3C CANCER SURVIVOR!!! Lastly, after letting her know that I wasn't happy with her unprofessional behavior and not letting me even talk and she continues to SHOUT over me on the phone ...I POLITELY said GOODBYE...MERRY CHRISTMAS!! BEWARE OF THIS FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST...It was so upsetting couldn't even remember her name...she is FORGETTABLE!!! THANK GOD FOR THAT! Kind regards, Will

Dr. Abar is the best! She's always so kind and thorough. She's so patient with my daughter when she goes in for her yearly check up. Everyone from the front desk, to check out, to glasses. We love Coastal Eye my whole family has been going there for over 30 years.

Dr. Misto is very knowledgeable and honest. Lucky to have such an amazing professional in the area. The administration is also very friendly and caring. Sandy and Linda are great ladies!

Very professional staff and Doctors. Had an emergency and they got me in right away. And the supply of frames is best in the area by far. I would recommend them to anybody.

Would highly recommend this team of Drs and office staff. Always friendly, on-time, thorough, and go above and beyond for a great patient experience!

The doctors and the staff are incredibly kind and make you feel comfortable and at ease. I've been a patient of Dr. Magliari's for years and his professionalism and caring is evident with all my visits I've had with him . I've recommended this practice to multiple people and they all come away saying the same thing.

I have been receiving the best of eye care over the last ten (10) years. Coastal eye associates takes the time to ensure I'm happy with both my eye exams and eye wear. Both Holly and Jessica are great. Thank You very much. Sincerely Gary

I've been going here for years, and I can attest that the people who work there genuinely actually care about your well-being. For example, they will walk you through the arcane process of actually redeeming the rebates for contacts (One of those "get $100 back", except actually redeeming it is so intentionally hard that probably 1% of people do. More recently, I've run out of contacts prematurely, and rather than having to buy more to make it to my next appointment, the employees got together enough samples to tide me over; I've been significantly delayed in picking them up, part because my kitty got sick, And they've called me several times to remind me my contacts are there, as well as to ask about the health of my kitty. Instead of just doing the obvious - and presumably more profitable, if they have a profit margin on contacts - thing and selling me new contacts, the employees there have put 10 times the effort of that into helping me avoid that expense. To me that the speaks genuine concern for me on the part of the employees. They're not just trying to do do the minimum required by their job, but actively looking for ways to do their customers a solid.
