had an amazing experience at Stanton Optical on Harbison Blvd! From the moment I walked in, the service was welcoming and professional. Johnni and Allie truly made the visit exceptional. They were both patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure I was comfortable and confident in my choices. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It's rare to find customer service like this--friendly, attentive, and efficient. I highly recommend this location and especially want to thank Johnni and Allie for such outstanding service!
There were not honest and upfront about prices. They told me one price and charged me a higher price. When I asked them they said because we did other things which I wasn't aware of or was asked if I want it. Definitely be careful when you shop there. Plus the exam isn't free as they stated on their website. You will end up paying more for sure.
Also, when I did my eye exam, the Dr was virtual/online. He was eating while doing my exam and was somewhat in rush. Didn't even give me the chance to ask questions and he was out.
I have had better experience somewhere else.
I had a terrible experience with this location of Stanton Optical. I asked to have glasses made same day with pre-existing frames i had purchases elsewhere online. They said it was no problem and would be ready in an hour. Never took measurements or anything prior to making the lenses. Upon picking them up, I immediately knew they weren't right, I was dizzy and getting nauseas and felt as if i was in an illusion . I mentioned they weren't right and they tried to tell me it was possibly due to going from plastic to polycarbonate lenses, going from plastic to metal frames as they sit different on the face, and the possibility that the lens shifted when being cut and I would have to send them out to remake them. I gave them a few moments to adjust in store while using the restroom and asked if they could also tighten my old glasses. When I returned I was told they snapped my old glasses and had to put the lenses in a new frame. I decided to give my eyes some time to adjust to them and proceeded to drive home with my old glasses on. However when I put those on, they also were now giving me an illusion and I was unable to see out of them. Later in the day I visited the Lexington location to ask for help as several hours had passes and I still could not see out of them. They said the same things the other location told me and said If i need any more help i would yet again have to drive back to the Harbison Location( mind you I've now been dizzy and can't see for over 5 hours) I took the drive back and spoke to them once again about my dissatisfaction with the glasses and I was basically told my eyes probably just couldn't use polycarbonate lenses and i needed plastic and that the frames were " too big" for the lens in stock and they needed to be shipped . Not once did they take ownership for having messed up the cut or for not being upfront about the frames in the first place. And then on top of all this, my old glasses were also ruined. I took my refund and went to LensCrafters where they told me after being in the business for X amount of years never heard such excuses and were able to complete my glasses in 20 minutes perfectly with No vision issues, regardless of the polycarbonate or size of the frame! They also fixed my old glasses for me and mentioned how " messed up" the frames and lens measurements were. A total of 8 hours of seeing dizzy and becoming nauseas! I've never had such a poor customer service experience where I was given such run around and excuses as to why its due to my own eyes/ frames vs admitting to messing up the cut and offering to fix in store again. I will NEVER be using Stanton eye again.
The bad reviews I read (so many TL;DR) are pedantic. Mistakes happen. Taking it personally says more about you than it does anyone else. I am homeless, been so for 20 years, just started to get on track. No, it is not drugs, nor booze, nor debt, nor crime. The nearby eyeglass places ignored or laughed me out of the store because of my appearance. Here I was treated with dignity and respect. The details are long: Tried many times over two decades to see better but I always had to deal with a level of nonsense. If you know, you know. Thank you for your kindness! I will never forget how much you helped me!
Update: I called and they fixed the prescription and ordered some new contacts for me. I'm very happy with how this was handled.
I've been going to Stanton for quite a few years and the past 2 times I've been my prescription was off. I was stuck with $400 worth of glasses I can't wear and now I have contacts that I can hardly see out of. The price was higher than what they said before the exam also. They said there was a promotion but they don't have promotions. They lower the price of the exam and only push expensive products. I won't be going back.
They have no licensed optometrist on-site. Due to this your exam will be conducted by a virtual optometrist, which sounds fine until you get the bill. The staff will look at you appalled when you have a negative reaction to the price of frames and an exam. $600 for a virtual exam and some tests I've never even had before and 2 simple stainless steel and titanium frames. My appointment was scheduled for 1 PM, I was not greeted at the door, or ever by staff. I just stood in line where I saw one other person, and eventually I was checked in. My name wasn't called for pre appointment screening until around 3 PM, and I got my horrible price around 4. Never during this process was I notified of the price difference or difference in services I was promised.
I have been a customer for years but last year I did a promotion where my next eye exam was free. When I called in to make my appointment the representative ensured that I didn't have to pay anything because I had the promotion. But when I got there they tried to say they had new test that now cost 79$. So they lost a good customer because they didn't honor their promotions as promised.
I'll never go back. I went to this location back in January 2025. As soon as I went to pick up the glasses, I knew they weren't right. I told the lady they weren't right. I've been wearing glasses for 25+ years. But she told me I just needed to get used to them. I wore them for 10 minutes and had an instant headache. Again this has never been an issue before. Stanton reached out for an after service survey. I told them the issue and never heard from them again. I've been wearing scratched and old glasses all year so that I can get some new ones in 2026 when my insurance will allow it. I can't stress how much I've hated this experience.
