Stokes Regional Eye Center

I must say that the front staff is very rude and short!!!! I started going to stokes Eye Center in 2004 and Dr Ross was very nice and attentive. The staff was as well. But going to the new facility the front staff is not friendly and do not make you feel comfortable at all! When I go to a Doctor's office I expect to see a doctor not a PA/ or an assistant. Why being charged for a specialist when you don't see a specialist???! I feel very helpless when I don't feel like I get the proper treatment and support for my eyes. It makes me feel very vulnerable and afraid. My eyes are one of the most important parts of my body. I want the best for my health. I always thought Stokes was the right choice for me.

If you're expecting prompt customer service, I'm sorry to inform you, you will NOT get it at Stokes Eye Center. My mother has been going there for years and at one time the service was good. My mother would take me there as a child and the optometrists were efficient and got their patients in and out at a reasonable time. Well, things have changed and those dependable optometrists are no longer there. My mother had an appointment today at 9:30am. Why is it 11:30am and she STILL has NOT seen Dr. Lyttle! She went to talk to an office manager and they gave an excuse of there was an emergency. Are they about to perform eye surgery?! This lethargic service has been going on for years! It's clear they do not care about people's time. I told her this will be the LAST time she will utilize their service!

I always have a long wait. Dr. Mark Stokes performed my eye lid surgery. It went well for the first few months. When I went back, with same complaint, he wanted to do it again. I declined because we never discussed multiple surgeries. A very non- chalant attutude. He also never resolved my dry eyes issues. I called to get an appointment with his brother (who the site says specializes in that) & they wouldn't give me one. I went to them for about 10 months & my vision is still impaired. I Do Not recommend him. Looking elsewhere.

They sent a bill to an address not lived at for 15 years. Never seen them before so it wasn't in their system.The bill got paid by error from the man at that address now. What a mess they made!! Didn't file insurance. Wouldn't say where they got address. Even went so far as to say no bill was sent yet it is in front of me. Clerk with horrible attitude hangs up when trying to ask about this mess they caused! Horrible service!

Appointment time was 4! Arrived with my 12month old 15 minutes prior to apt time. After an hour and 30 minutes we never even got to see the doctor. Had to leave and hope to get better experience elsewhere

After reading some of the other reviews, I'd swear they could not be about the same place!! I had an appointment made by the 1st eye doctor I have seen in more than 20 years after being told that my cataracts were so bad I was LEGALLY BLIND!!! I take multiple medications where a side effect is blurred vision, so I was in TOTAL shock!! My initial visit for consultation, I barely started my forms when I was called back. I went thru the different stations and within about 20 minutes there was Dr. Hunter Stokes. I felt completely at ease as every detail was explained. My pre-op medications were called in and ready before I even made it home. When I showed up for surgery both my daughter and I were taken over everything that was to be done and what to expect afterwards. I was TERRIFIED about the fact I would not be put to sleep, but other than being told to look straight ahead (I thought I was. Lol) it was nowhere near what I had envisioned. I was wheeled back out to my daughter who was surprised it was so quick. She's been through many other surgeries I've had over the years, including 3 heart related, a quadruple bypass, and major abdominals with reconstruction. I lovingly call her " my private nurse" and she's VERY thorough about my care. And I'm not even 60 yet!! Lol. We went back to the hotel room we had gotten for the night before and the night of surgery (only minutes from the hospital), where we both relaxed for the 1st time in weeks. I went in for the next day follow up and I couldn't stop laughing and crying while flipping my focus from one eye to the other and I just kept saying, "OMG" The difference from just one day earlier was AMAZING!!!! I no longer see the world(at least with 1 eye) thru a sepia filter and completely out of focus. I'm about to go in and get my really bad eye done in a couple weeks and I can't wait!!

LONG READ: We drove an hour and a half away from home for our 7 month olds appointment. Arrived early, asked if it was okay if we check in early or if we should wait in our car until closer to our appointment and then check in, front desk staff said it was okay for us to check in and did so. After waiting for two hours I asked if they had any idea how much longer on us being seen as we had driven an hour and a half and waited two hours and did not plan to wait this long with our 7 month old. Staff told us they were not sure how much longer it would be, but at least another hour wait. Staff then told us "an average wait time is anywhere from 2-2.5 hours". Go find any other eye doctor to go to besides this practice. Beyond unprofessional. No idea how the doors are even still open on this place. If any manager or supervisor would like to reach out, I would LOVE to discuss our experience.

My son was patient here when we called because he had possibly damaged his eye removing a hair or dirt. I called the emergency line they provide. The woman I spoke to said yes he really needs to be seen. I then asked if I could bring him in and she said, "No, you need to call and make an appointment." I then asked if I could make an appointment with her on the phone and she said that I could not. Then when I tried to make an appointment I learned that you have to call and leave a voicemail and someone will call you back. I said all of the information on the voicemail and NEVER was called back. We will not be returning.
