I'll come back & add photos.Building is very old, very neat antiques still remain in place! Surgery is fast, precise,& they put you in a wheelchair, you're out the door! Fastest surgery, I've ever had! (& I've had over #60!) Dr. is very good! Is-only 2'things wasnt happy with; my IV nurse,& amount of money I owed, was higher than what they'd told me on the phone? My eye is doing great. After my next visit, I'll add photos. Vision: 20/20 in eye Dr. fixed,& I never knew that was possible! However, did loose being able see up close,in exchange to see far off. Will need bifocals after 2'nd.eye.My dr, Dr.Skillings is a great physician! 5:'s! "The Doctor gets stars!"
I keep getting calls telling me I have appointments I do not know about. Always on a Friday telling me my appointment is Monday. I am disabled & from Friday to Monday is not enough time to find a ride. I cancelled my appointment and they did not remember. I will not be responsible for an appointment on Mon. Dec 8th & I just found out Friday. I cannot even call & cancel . Well this is my cancelation notice.
Great doctor, but the office is a hot mess. I went for my first appointment and when I arrived they told me they were running an hour late, so I rescheduled because I had other plans to keep. Appointment 2 was the same, but running 45 min late, so I had to cancel because I had a flight to catch and couldn't risk that it was only 45 mins. For Appointment 3 I cleared my calendar to ensure I could wait it out. I got there 20 mins before my appt, but I didn't get in until 1 1/4 hr after my scheduled time :-(. Only the doctor apologized for the delay.
Really like the doctor and the cataract surgery that was performed, but the office is completely disrespectful / disorganized for the patients. I'm looking for a new provider :-(
Awesome experience, throughout the cataract surgery process. Everyone worked well together all questions are answered with pro and cons explained. Very busy office, where emergency cases may need to be worked into the schedule. Excellent doctors very professional.
Took my 78 year old mom to an appointment at 1:50 p.m. today. At 3:40 p. m, we still had not been seen by the doctor. My mom has to use a wheelchair and after all that time waiting, she was in pain. So we left. Ridiculous to make appointments 10 minutes apart and make patients wait for hours. However, if you're late, I bet they would send you a bill. My time is just as important as theirs.
so...yesterday (04/17/2025) my husband who is disable veteran woke up with eye emergency. Not knowing what as going to happen, we called the VA. we were told that I need to take him ASAP to nearest ER. After 5 hours evaluating, ( the er doctor was getting consultation from Dr. Disturbances) we were told to go directly to this office. I drove husband to 1200 high market st. Attempt to check-in. There at check-in window, we explained and showed the young lady discharged paper with instructions. She told us that they do not except VA as insurance nor the our Tricare insurance and we need an insurance card which we had no other insurance. We ask her what are we to do at that point as it was already getting late in the day as the time was 230 PM and the doctors had conversations while we were at ER. she told us that makes no difference as she can't/will not proceed our check-in without some form of insurance. I can understand if we was just a walked in and wanting to see a doctor and they didn't except our insurance. We were sent there by an emergency case after the doctors conversation and their doctor was the one who instructed ER Dr to sent us there. Bottom line, we were turn away without able to check-in. That being so late in the day, I had to drove husband to Charleston VA emergency room. I feel like the young woman at the check-in window could of at least asked someone if there something they could have done differently considering it was emergency case and their Dr had known of our case prior to our arrival rather than just so bluntly said NO to someone who was panicking to wonder if he would lose his vision.....this world can use someone little more of feeling and caring and I did not found it there.
Dr DeChamplaine and staff are wonderful. I have been going here for a few years and always the same experience. I trust him and believe he has our best interest in his care. I also have great regard for the staff. They seem well qualified and will answer all your questions, and if not, they make sure the Dr. Follows up with you.
So I had cataract sugery on December 3rd and 18th. The whole staff from beginning to end were professional but warm and they run like a well oiled machine. But let me tell you I about cried when I came back to work and put my glasses on to read emails and found I no longer needed them! Dr. D thank you so much and thank you to your top notch staff!!!
