I recently had cataract surgery done by Dr. DeChamplain at Coastal Eye Group in Georgetown, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. To be honest, I struggled for a while with the decision to go through with it. I only have one good eye, and of course, it was that eye that needed the procedure. As someone who's had a long history of eye issues -- including retinal detachments in both eyes from the time I was 8 until 19 -- I don't take anything involving my vision lightly. It had been almost 20 years since my last major eye issue, and mentally, it was hard to go down that road again. It's not exactly common to need this kind of surgery before you're even 40. But Dr. DeChamplain and his entire team were incredible. They made me feel comfortable, answered every question I had, and truly put me at ease throughout the process. From professionalism to bedside manner to the post-op care -- everything was handled with top-notch skill and compassion. And the results? Amazing. My vision is clearer than it's been in years, and I honestly wish I'd done it sooner.
