Recently, I visited Redstone Family Vision for my annual eye exam. I only have mild reading difficulty and usually use over-the-counter reading glasses. During this visit, I purchased a branded pair of Tory Burch reading glasses.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The prescription strength was much stronger than needed, making the glasses uncomfortable to use. Considering the cost, the glasses were handed to me in an unprofessional manner, and there was no proper protective case for a branded product (photo attached).
I was also dissatisfied with the doctor's communication, as my questions were barely addressed, leaving me feeling unheard.
Overall, I expected a more professional, attentive, and patient-focused experience.
I would not recommend Redstone Family Vision. I have never been so disappointed with an eye doctor as I was with this one, and I have worn glasses for 60+ years. She told me my eyes were "ripe" for cataract surgery that needed to occur immediately. She also told me that I wouldn't pass a driving test. I of course was upset and told her I had a lot of things going on and wanted to know if I could postpone. She more or less said that I needed to get it done now and then she quickly left the room. That was September 2. Here it is September 24 and I haven't heard anything from the surgeon, or the eye doctor. So, I called twice but my calls were not returned. So if this was so urgent why have I not been contacted by the surgeon (or the doctor, or anyone else). Today I went to another eye doctor and paid out of pocket for a complete exam. According to him, I definitely would pass a drivers test (which I already knew) and I can have the surgery in November. The new eye doctor was not only thorough but also had a great bed side manner, which the original doctor lacked big time, Mrs. Fromm
An absolute scam - I received this confirmation from them 2 days before the appointment stating that a wellness exam is required but not covered by my insurance. Was not disclosed at time of booking.
Edited to say that the response from the business is not correct - I booked well over a week ago and this was never disclosed. At year end it's very difficult to get another appointment and throwing an undisclosed charge in at the last minute is predatory. I will be contacting VSP to make sure this is disclosed as well. I also spoke to the staff and relayed my concerns and they hung up on me.
I had an urgent need for evaluation because of a sudden change in vision in one eye and they evaluated me first thing next morning. They performed a thorough evaluation and were able to reassure me that the transient condition was not serious. Staff was kind and understanding of my concerns.
I brought my daughter here over the summer after a referral from oncology for a very serious potential diagnosis. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that no one had reviewed the referral or understood how high-stakes this appointment was for our family.
During intake, the assistant began asking blunt questions about the suspected condition directly in front of my daughter. I politely asked her to pause and review the referral so we didn't have to discuss something so frightening in front of my child. She refused and continued, blaming technology, showing no empathy or awareness of how serious this was.
When the ophthalmologist came in, the experience became even worse. She abruptly told me, with no bedside manner at all, that my daughter had nodules in her eyes that would indicate a horrible life changing, potentially fatal disease. There was no gentleness, no explanation, no compassion. The way she delivered that news was so shocking and harsh that I broke down crying right in front of both of my children. It was one of the most devastating moments of my life. Our family experienced so much worry and stress over the next days, and months.
Yesterday we finally got in to a pediatric specialist who confirmed that this diagnosis was completely wrong. The emotional trauma and fear this caused our family is something I would never want another parent to experience.
If you receive any major diagnosis from this office, please get a second opinion. Families deserve preparation, accuracy, and basic compassion, none of which we received here.
Sold my kid glasses he didn't need was verified by 2 other real eye drs. Nickel and dimed me for my contacts after tons of attempts finally got it right claimed to be looking for a dr to help with eye surgery then never followed up on anything. Pleas beware so you don't get taken advantage. One dr was ok the other one was just about making as much money with everything she could possibly charge you with have all paperwork to back these claims up it was shortly after he got his glasses like less than a year after he got he was seen by one dr who asked why he even needed them then went to another dr that said he probably never needed them got the papers from the other drs to prove it and I only got hostile when you staff got hostile with me and they wouldn't let me speak to you directly over the phone because I wanted to hear it from you I only show hostility when your staff gave me nothing but attitude after I asked to speak with you directly so I came in so keep telling yourself that it will make it true Bhumika now all of a sudden it was a legal issue you did it two times before that and it wasn't needed but whatever. Just like you kept the free replacement card that came with ever other set you ever ordered for me but then magically disappeared with the last set because you didn't want to deal with me and my prescriptions didn't expire according to your system till long after this incident and I left your practice but some how according to you it had already expired

Received an appointment quickly for a DMVSC requirement. Very professional starting with the front desk, vision tech and the doctor. Thank you! I will return for regular services.
Redstone Family Vision! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean, calming, and professional the office felt. It felt more like a spa and less like an eye doctor's office. The staff was so kind and welcoming, which immediately put me at ease.
Dr. Bhumika Patel was exceptional--truly one of the most caring and attentive optometrists I've ever met. Her bedside manner was outstanding: patient, thorough, and incredibly reassuring. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire exam.
It's rare to find a place that combines professionalism with genuine kindness and care, but Redstone Family Vision does it effortlessly. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-notch eye care experience!
