As a former ophthalmology RN, I sing Dr. Massios' praises! He is a surgeon par excellence. He is extremely careful, and is quick to assess and rectify things beyond his control. I underwent cataract extractions with the lens implants several months ago with an extremely small complication that required an additional surgical procedure of one eye. He could not have been more competent, personable, professional, and detailed regarding treatment and prognosis. I was discharged from his care for a one-year follow up. This past weekend (February 2018), I experienced sudden arc of light with immediate floater in the opposite eye, causing me concern. The office staff (just as competent) got me into see him. He gave me a thorough exam with a great prognosis, nothing serious going on. To be meticulous and on top of potential problems he will see me in one month. I am so grateful and appreciative for this surgeon to be in my area, and so available!! Thank you, Dr. Massios! mjD

I love Doctor Massios and the people that work with him in the back. However, the rudeness of one of the ladies in the reception area is incomprehensible! Today was the second time she has treated me with disrespect. She doesn't want to help. I simply wanted to pick up my contacts that had been on order. This lady is the very definition of someone who hates their job. She's so rude and unprofessional, I'm thinking of going elsewhere for my eye care.

I normally take my Dad to all appts BUT I had to go to Charlotte for business. My sister came down from Asheville to take him to appt for me. They said they sent paperwork, which we never rec'd, and because Dad didnt bring his wallet with his Id or MCR card, they refused treatment. They weren't willing to take a deposit while my sister went back to get his wallet. No one offered to work with her to correct the situation. Of all the trips, appts, Dr's visits he has had in the past 2 years, this is the ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had. My sister isn't familiar with the process. I retired from Healthcare and will NEVER RECOMMEND this office. I will be calling the referring physician and get a referral elsewhere.

I've been a patient of Dr. Massios since 2013 - 5-6 office visits in all. The Doctor is rather a prima donna - absolutely every visit he politicizes his complains about "the govt. forcing him to keep electronic medical records" (I for one am happy about that patient compliance protection). Every visit, I wait with the other 2-3 folks whose appointment time coincides with mine. An investment of 1.5 to 3 hours for maybe a 5 minute doctor consultation is not uncommon as OVER BOOKING is the norm here. All the staff are friendly and courteous and the technicians do most of the actual "testing", however one wonders if long appointment complaints are passed on to the doctor? or passed on and ignored. I surmise the latter. My first time ever remark in 3 years, about the" 2 hour wait being unacceptable" was answered with dozens of excuses about a problem-filled day... and a cold demeanor at the mention. Just a sincere, "we're truly sorry" was an accountability bridge too far. There is a $25 penalty assessed if one is simply 15 min. late in checking in for the "agreed upon" appt. time, however the office never pays/credits all those patients who show up on time and are kept waiting for over an hour. His eye surgery center also over books so having late afternoon cataract surgery is typical. While the doctor seems very skilled, his bedside manner is "touchy". I'd say the mission statement at this practice is "the more patients/copays/ins. claims the $$$-ier".

New in town. My husband woke up with an obvious eye infection.Called Dr Massios' office, explained the problem, and was offered an appointment for November.HELLO!! His office staff is not very well trained nor competent. Infection is a priority and if Dr Massios could not see him another referral should have been offered. By November my husband would surely be blind or dead!

I had a major issue over a holiday weekend and was out of town. They were willing to see me on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. I cannot thank you enough for helping!

Very helpful, got me in quickly, very friendly, best eye doctor office I've ever been to!
